  1. Also, if the Mrs. really likes to skip around, I would think she could do that easily with her phone in her hand.
  2. I bought that black one on Feb 3, 2018 - for a different purpose tho.
  3. Yes, I’ve heard that about USB CD players skipping and being practically worthless, but I haven’t tried one, since it would only be used in a rental car. I remember it being disheartening to find rental cars without disc players, but that’s why having a home digital collection is so nice! I used to transfer to the flash drive a couple of times, but I just went straight over to the iPod (or phone, if you have one). All of the tune info is there shown in the display on these newer cars. If you think that’s too labor-intensive, then the easiest is to Bluetooth with an online collection (Spotify, for instance) and you can listen to individual discs (even new ones). The suggestion of Apple CarPlay is something I’d consider if I were able to do that in my old car. Still, in my current car, I just bought a six-disc built-in changer to replace the one that went out, but I find myself playing homemade discs 90% of the time compared to commercial discs because I get concerned that I’ll lose one in the player if it breaks (just like what happened to the last player). I still have a working cassette player that I try to keep clean.
  4. Earlier this year at The Kessler:
  5. I don't know how much of that happens - or if there was any compensation, but there it was in at least one of their ads.
  6. Postpartum depression and schizophrenia come from different areas. I could understand someone being in a depressive state needing the high activity of a dog, for instance, to keep their mind busy instead of the more introspective state of a cat, but it is widely known that both cats and dogs provide various mental health benefits. People who have cats tend to mention that their furry friends are great companions, have a calming effect, and help ease stress and anxiety. On the flip side, dog owners are likely to say that their pets motivate them to get up and be active. Maybe they were trying to say that trying to understand cats could lead to schizophrenia! 🤪
  7. So you and JSngry have the same birthday?
  8. Sorry, I'm not buying it... ...and that's what the voices tell me! (Also, maybe they're confusing this with toxoplasmosis) Plus, what is "contact" with cats?
  9. Those Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou titles are quite nice. Around 20 years ago, I picked up some of her work and would include it in discs I'd made for restaurants - some Ethiopian - but didn't think much more about her until her music started showing up last year on Wal-Mart commercials. Stunned, I started listening again - and then she died earlier this year at nearly 100, so the nun and her piano became a pretty regular thing around these parts.
  10. Wow. OK, I don't get that at all because, for me, Backblaze is incredibly easy. I can't see the interface getting any easier. The moment I opened it up, it began reading the drives and began the back-up. I never have to look at it ever again, but I just might every few months just to see that it's still working by clicking on the icon in the menu bar at the top. It tells me what's recently happened: I just can't imagine it getting any easier than that. Speed? I started it with a huge amount, so I knew that it would take a long time, but I just go on doing what I do and it handles the rest without me even having to mess with it. If I were a laptop user, I could still pick up where I left off at any time (unless it's been over 2 weeks, then they send you an email asking where your drive is). [I just checked: my initial backup was a bit over 1TB/day. - which, for me, was fine - considering I didn't need to always be aware of it. I could easily do all kinds of other things while it was doing its thing]. So, yeah, for me, it's an incredibly simple, reliable solution (with extra benefits at an incredible price).
  11. This goes out to JSngry for his birthday today.
  12. Don't know which service you're talking about, but mine actually uploads it for me. I don't have to do a thing.
  13. Big band brassy jazz-rock was a thing in those days. Blood, Sweat & Tears, Chicago, and a slew of others. My uncle, was an agent for Chase and Ides of March and worked with Woody Herman too during that time. Other labels jumped on the bandwagon as well, so you had Chase on Epic, If on Capitol, those Don Ellis sides, Maynard, Buddy Rich, and so on. I was swept up in it as well. Watrous got a lot of play on my radio show in those days because people called in and asked for him.
  14. I think the next year's "Tiger of San Pedro" made a bigger splash IIRC - especially the chart heard 'round the world, "Sweet Georgia Upside Down."
  15. Looks promising. I usually just follow what the drive manufacturers say, but I haven’t bought a new one in quite some time, so maybe they say it’s OK to use hubs now. OK, so I stand corrected. I’ve never looked into them before even tho they’ve been around for a couple of decades. I guess I was just going by the things I’ve read in manuals a long time ago and just never needed to look further.
  16. I hope this works. At least, it'll get you going in a forward direction while you mull over all of our various suggestions. Still, it's weird because if you're actually engaging the drive by listening to something on it, then I would think that it wouldn't register as "inactivity." Also, I forgot to mention that your drive shouldn't be connected to your computer thru a USB hub (if that's the case). That might cause some unexpected problems as well.
