  1. This is actually an Art Pepper date, released under his name on Tampa 28. It was later reissued as a Marty Paich session.
  2. To put things in perspective as far as Mr Schuller's age is concerned, he was born in November 1925, so he's now 83.
  3. If I remember correctly Schuller abandoned the project years ago.
  4. When will it be safe again to order?
  5. If you're asking about a Mosaic Erroll Garner box, that project is definitely dead (see also my first post in the Mosaic Ahmad Jamal box thread). Approval was denied by the Garner estate.
  6. Yep, a couple of projects, including a big one, are still awaiting clearance, that's why he couldn't divulge. No more info at this stage.
  7. I hope you're kidding ... I wish I were! Talked to Wenzel this morning. Busy man, also had contact with him today
  8. I've just been told that the Jamal set will not be released until sometime next year (2010).
  9. I'm with Claude on this one. I had both the RVG and the MFSL and the latter won in a comparison, by an enormous margin. To my ears the RVG is a sonic disaster (added digital compression, almost mono, the highs don't sound good), while the MFSL sounds pretty smooth. I haven't heard any of the Analogue Productions hybrid SACDs so far, so I can't comment on those.
  10. The upcoming Denny Zeitlin and John Handy Mosaic Select sets are now available for pre-order
  11. I know this is quite late, but did you sell this cd? Be well, Jeff "Saint Vitus" last visited the forum almost two years ago (May 9, 2007), so I wish you good luck...
  12. I feel much the same way about Fuller's other Impulse! date, Soul Trombone. Not bad, but could/should have been a lot better, imo. In my opinion Soul Trombone is a better date than Cabin in the Sky, but it's still mediocre.
  13. That's the 20-bit K2 remastered Japanese reissue from the 1990s. It has never been reissued on CD in the United States.
  14. A great set for a crazy price I had the K2 set and sold it. The highs sounded boosted, too "sharp/edgy" to my ears. The regular set is a bit better in that respect.
  15. Well put. It's pretty much how I feel about the Hill solo set. Ever since I bought it I've been thinking of selling it. It just doesn't grab me as much as Hill's earlier small-group sessions; some (and at times much) of the tension is lacking.
  16. Chris posted additional info here.
  17. I guess I have to eat crow on this one. I decided to accept delivery and attempt to get an adjustment to the shipping cost credited back to my card. However, after checking the international postage rates on the Royal Mail website, it appears that what I was charged for shipping is in line with the rate for a slightly-over-3kg parcel shipped to the US via International Standard Parcelforce. I've ordered items from overseas many times, but I have to admit I'm shocked at the shipping rate for this one. I still think the seller should've explicitly stated the shipping cost and offered the alternative of surface mail, but as the total wasn't really more than the average going rate for copies of this set, I'll just chalk it up as an expensive lesson. Sending stuff by surface mail is no longer possible in many European countries.
  18. Just checked: $1 = €0.75 / £0.69 €1 = $1.33 / £0.91 £1 = €1.10 / $1.45
  19. An excellent set, recommended.
  20. Mosaic's "End of January" sale
  21. Chuck's Tyler thread
  22. I hope a healthy percentage of those visitors bought this great album
  23. I have Ole from that series, based on advice from you in a 5-year old thread! Yes, these are really hard to find now. Hopefully they'll be reissued again. The Rhino box will do in the meantime... I had many of those Japanese 20-bit K2 Atlantics in mini-LP sleeves. At first I was enthusiastic about the sound until listening fatigue set in each time I listened to them. During a comparison (now years ago) with the first American CD issues the 20-bit K2s turned out to have boosted higher frequencies and, if I remember correctly, some added compression too that may well have been the cause of the listening fatigue. I sold them for very nice prices I don't have any problems with the originals or the box. The 20-bit K2s were replaced by the Japanese WPCR Atlantics, so I don't think they'll ever be reissued.
