  1. Hmm... After I had placed my bid (and was outbid) I found out about Werner Uehlinger's reissue plans and decided not to bid anymore. Couldn't really afford it anyway...
  2. Maybe not; didn't he promise he'd stop at 99?
  3. I second that! Doug's Atlantic sides in one great set

    Welcome back, Tony.
  6. Couldn't agree more. Yup. I just wish they'd remaster it. So do I, though my 20-bit K2 remastered Japanese CD doesn't sound bad
  7. Couldn't agree more.
  8. At the moment $1 = €0.83 / €1 = $1.21, so €40 would be about $48.
  9. On my system the 2003 remaster blew the MFSL away like a tornado.
  10. It seems he died last year, but there are many who doubt it. I think there's a thread about it, perhaps you could do a search.
  11. After Volunteers (1969) everything Jefferson (Airplane / Starship / whatever) was a rapid move downhill as far as I'm concerned.
  12. Errr... I can always delete my post
  13. The sound of Surrealistic Pillow has never been great. I picked up the LP when it came out in 1966 and purchased the subsequent CD reissues, including the 20-bit K2 remastered Japanese CD and the latest RCA reissue. That one - the 2003 RCA remaster - is the best of the lot, with the Japanese CD a close second. As far as After Bathing at Baxter's and Crown of Creation, the 2003 RCA remasters are wonderful. On my system (Mark Levinson-fed electrostatics) I'm hearing things I've never heard before, not even on the original LPs and the Japanese 20-bit K2 remastered reissues. Recommended! Edit: I've just been listening to the Surrealistic Pillow remaster and it does sound pretty good, though the recording's only so-so. By the way, I can't comment on Takes Off. I had the original LP, didn't like it very much and never got any of the CD reissues.
  14. ...and many happy returns!
  15. Chuck is it a nice poetic way to formulate the title of this song or a split of tongue of some sort? (the title of this tune from the SONNY ROLLINS NEWK'S TIME is THE SURREY WITH THE FRINGE ON TOP.) I thought Chuck's interpretation was rather funny...

  17. Any word on who's writing 'em? No.
  18. The board is suddenly very slow again...
  19. ...but you're right, any other day is OK too, as long as you ask permission from the local authorities (they're a pretty busy bunch)
  20. Angel is EMI's North American classical imprint. EMI asked president of Cetra-Soria Records Dario Soria in the early 1950s to start a North American outlet for the recordings of its subsidiary, the Columbia Gramophone Company, usually known as English Columbia. Angel was launched in September 1953.
  21. ...or they've all gone belly-up Can't happen. I don't have my Stanley Turrentine box ordered yet. You've got a point there.
  22. ...or they've all gone belly-up
  23. Yep, but you have to get permission from the local authorities, as it might interfere with a national holiday.
  24. In Europe you're allowed one extra birthday in a leap year.
