Accoring to Werner Uehlinger Hat Hut won't be able to (re)issue any other Revelation albums.

Hans, have you heard Vintage Duets? - Fred Anderson / Steve McCall duo recording on Okka - there MCCall is perfectly complimetary to Anderson's playing. Nope, I've never heard it; thanks for the recommendation. Have you heard Marilyn Crispell's Destiny on Okkadisk, with Anderson and Drake?

I just realized I probably should have posted this on April 2... It's no joke!

Hat Hut's Werner Uehlinger just told me he hopes to reissue Warne Marsh's Ne Plus Ultra on his hatOLOGY label early 2005. It's already been remastered and he's waiting for new liner notes.

Listening to this one again: The music is indeed terrific, but I still think Drake is a bit too loud in the mix at times.
-
To be honest, I was a little disappointed with this one. Hamid Drake is a bit too prominent in my opinion. Is such a thing possible?!? To my ears, yes, it is... I think he more or less drowns Fred Anderson out at times.

My condolences to you and your family. -

This: is an amazing album! Wonderful.

Another older album I dug up: Hadn't listened to it for quite a while, and I was pleasantly surprised.

I thought everything's "frozen" once a bid has been placed, but apparently some things can be changed according to eBay rules: If your item has already received a bid/purchase or ends within 12 hours, you can only: Add to the item description (Exception: If your listing already has a bid/purchase AND ends within 12 hours, you can't add to your description or add a second category) Add optional seller features to increase your item's visibility. I don't think it's OK to raise shipping rates like this seller apparently did, so I'd report it to eBay if I were you - for what it's worth...

Well, it sure isn't me. Well, then it must be Chaney, who obviously took time off from posting especialy to concentrate on searching for Rara Avis I may be wrong, but he certainly didn't give me that impression...

Which Mosaics probably don’t sell too well?
J.A.W. replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
As well... so Reinier, and i will take your word, on a scale of say one to ten how much better is the VeeJay set of Shorter/Morgan than the old (and illegal) Blue Moons?? The question wasn't addressed to me, but from what I've heard, I'd say night and day. The Mosaic sets were remastered by Malcolm Addey, and that says it all in my opinion. -

No need to get upset, I'm occasionally asking Mosaic questions and this happened to be one of them. Hm, I wonder why I'm defending myself here - there's no need for that either... -

...and I just got an e-mail from Mosaic confirming what Reinier said. -
According to Leonard Feather and Ira Gitler's Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz (1999; Oxford University Press, NYC) Tommy Turrentine was sporadically active from the mid 1960s. In the 1970s and 1980s he was associated with the "University of the Streets" on NYC's Lower East Side, frequently performing there with saxophonist Clarence Sharpe. He appeared with Barry Harris at Symphony Space, NYC in the 1980s, and he played and recorded with Sun Ra in 1988. Although ill health forced him to stop playing in 1988, he continued to write and contribute compositions to recordings by Stanley Turrentine and others. He died in NYC on May 13, 1997.

Peter, I put it up for auction here.

I've listened to this one several times now, and it's not my cup of tea: As is well known to some posters here, I don't like vocalizing and there's just too much of it on this disc. It's also too mannered, too arty if you like, to my taste.

Not yet, too much music lying around We're going to lose an hour anyway tonight (daylight saving time from 2 AM here)
