  1. In my opinion, this is a phenomenal disc. My brother plays it everytime I've seen him this month... we've listened to it four or five times in different settings. Frissell just sounds like he is squeezing the sounds out of his instrument. Surely this album has been talked about on org already, no?
  2. i asked howe gelb. he told me to ask nick cave. nick cave was not available for comment.
  3. I did some radio shows under the name Bobby St. New Mexico. It just came to me and I went with it.
  4. Sorry to hear this. I'll be pulling out some of Dewey's music for tomorrow.
  5. I hope you feel better Paul.
  6. I wasn't aware he was working on a new one. Is this a trio disc? Surprised to see that Blue Note is retaining any of its musician roster. I meant jazz musician roster.
  7. I know you can do better than that chewy chew chew cha roo. Let's see a real stab at it.
  8. Yeah, I say give it a listen and try to ignore the hype. HYPE HYPE HYPE DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE
  9. I've smoked with my fair share of aliens. They seem to like to listen to Black Beauty at melting volumes, full f'ing blast. Pretty cool folks.
  10. CATS IN A CAR starring Samuel L. Parent. Sounds scary.

  12. V, tell me you bought that disc! Please review!
  13. Dave, I'm about 2.5 hrs from Durham, but we will definitely meet in Chapel Hill/Carrboro for music. Don't worry about hurricanes. You will be far enough in-land that they won't affect you too much. Just rain. You are going through a lot of change right now. Hopefully a new place will do some good. Work will fall into place. I don't have any leads for you out there, but Durham usually has plenty to offer. You are skilled. I'm sure you will find something sooner than later.
  14. I listened today. Side one. BTW, I've always thought of this album as described in the poll. Fitter Happier begins part two. Check the typography if you have any doubts.
  15. That thing looks sweet. If only I had $400 to spare.
  16. I think The Roots, and even ?uestlove, should be ?uestioned every once in a while as well. I would rate their music on a scale from consistently 'skip' to consistently excellent. The good to excellent scale would apply to Do You Want More???????, however.
  17. I prefer your sense of humor to Alexander's...
  18. The Blackeyed Peas are a joke and most everybody knows it. Andre is going to be playing the part of Cannonball Adderley on this. Coltrane will be played by a computer.
  19. Now THAT is what youtube is all about. It just looks like it was meant to be broadcast over the internet 25 years later. Get out from behind the computer and LEARN TO SWIM. I've tried to get into youtube... I really have. I watched a good doc on Bueys. I've seen clips here and there from this thread, but damn... if I'm not USING the computer, I'm wasting time behind it. I even have a hard time reading boards, news, etc. I see how youtube/internet boards, etc is some sort of consumerism backlash, but it all feels the same. Damn right. I wish stuff like this still went on. Instead, people have settled for watching a horrible reproduction over a high speed internet connection. "Are y'all hip? Shit..."
  20. I remember Workman's bass was up on ebay a few years back. Maybe more than a few years back, now that I think of it. I wonder who ended up with it.
  21. Sort of a scary stamp, if you ask me!
  22. You never can tell... I'd love to see it though. I think this is going to be a fun season.
  23. Panthers just might have the thing wrapped up this year. I've been a fan since the beginning, which wasn't that long ago. It was a lot of fun to pull for them up in New England over the past few years. I enjoyed watching the Pats and the Red Sox while we lived up there, but its Panthers all the way.
