try parachute cord.

What do you need help with. Stringing the bars? I do that all the time. Thanks Kat... no, I don't need help stringing the bars. I've got that one. I'm trying to decide between a couple of pick-up systems vs. a couple of mic'ing systems. There are pros and cons to each, as with everything. In the end, the cost is almost equal regardless of which route I go. p.s. why would you have to re-string your bars all the time? Parachute cord is pretty heavy duty stuff. Considering the application here, I can't imagine needing to replace it more than once every couple of decades. Re-wrapping mallets on the other hand...

That's right! I prefer the hand-lettering as well.

Damn Jim... I wish you played vibes! You make everything sound so simple! I could use your guidance in wiring these bars!

I think I've met that guy a few times. I never have the heart to tell him that I have a 401k. Was he wearing an old REM tour t-shirt? Sometimes I feel like Jim Halpern setting up certain situations for my enjoyment alone, only their is no documentary crew to share the moment with. -
Modern Rock - what do you like???

sjarrell, have you checked out kingsbury manx? They are a fantastic band based out of chapel hill. One of the members works at cd alley down there. He told me that they actually formed here in wilmington. They are represented by billions corporation. In some circles, that is a sure sign that they 'made it.' Others that we've been listening to recently, all can be had at various organissimo-approved online retailers so use the search feature at the top of this page: I'll say it again, I L A D Yeah, my brother is in the band, but that should not detract from the recommendation. I am a believer. Jolie Holland Springtime Can Kill You Absolutely gorgeous music. There is an unbelievably waivering quality to her music, similar to what you hear on the Atavistic Unheard Music Series Country Brass Bands. I also relate it to the modulation that I hear on the Vashti Banyan/Animal Collective EP. She really is an amazing singer & musician. So many people on this board would really like this disc, but probably won't ever read this thread and buy it. Gillian Welch Soul Journey What can I say... if you don't know, you don't know. Mike Andrews (Elgin Park) You may recognize this name as a member of Greyboy Allstars. His solo output couldn't be more different. Maybe not as psych-folk as psych-folk listeners would tell you, but it seems to fit into his melodic ideas. Freaks and Geeks fans may also recognize his name, as he composed the score for the show. Good stuff. Good good stuff. Archer Prewitt OK, so if you are familiar with these artists, you are probably already in tune with the listening mood. Another solid recording from a member of The Sea and Cake. I hope someone checks some of this stuff out and reports back. All very good music that 'rewards repeated listening'. -

The 40 year old Virgin

I'll admit that I haven't seen the final cut, so I shouldn't criticize. Still, I'd like to see Carrell take on a more challenging role. Something subtle, for instance. -
shrugs?

I think Steve Carrell is hilarious, but I thought this movie was sub-par for him. I saw the unedited version, which was way long. Subtle is not a word that comes to mind when I think of this movie. A lot of the gags were purely shock value. I'd say this movie was a near-miss for him and hope he takes on more challenging roles in the future. -

I wouldn't recommend Southern Rock Opera as an entry-point though unless you are fascinated with the Van Zants and Skynyrd. -

Hey guys, if you wouldn't mind checking out this link. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=28028 -
Howdy folks! I’m looking for a little help from the community here. I have offered to help an ‘experimental rock’ outfit book a fall tour. We have sent a press kit to a number of clubs listed below. If any of you have any experience dealing with any of the clubs listed below and have advice and/or an ‘in’ with the booking agent, any help would be much appreciated! I’ve also included an itinerary. If you know of any other clubs that would fit the bill, by all means, throw them out there for me! The band has done a couple of live radio performances as well. If you think this is a possibility in your town, we would love to work it out. Thanks everyone. www.iladmusic.com ilad is: Clifton McDaniel- Vocals/Guitars Gabe Churray- Churray Station Cameron Ralston-Bass/Vocals Scott Clark- Drums Itinerary September 16, 2006 Charlottesville, VA Twisted Branch Tea Bazaar September 17, 2006 Washington, DC Iota Club and cafe Velvet Lounge Ottobar September 18, 2006 Philadelphia, PA The Khyber The Loop Lounge Brighton Bar The Goat Cafe NJPAC North Star Bar Trocadero Theatre Electric Factory R5 Productions Theater of living arts The Quiet Storm September 19, 2006 New York, NY Tribeca The Court Tavern The Stone House Music Club Siberia Knitting Factory Arlene’s Grocery Tonic September 20, 2006 Hartford/New Haven, CT Bar Stone Ballroom The Buttonwood Tree Webster Theatre September 21, 2006 Providence, RI AS220 Lupo’s Heartbreak hotel September 22, 2006 Boston, MA Iron Horse The Eleven’s Sky Bar Toad The Milky Way Lounge Club Passim September 23, 2006 TBA, NH September 24, 2006 Portland, ME The Center For cultural Exchange Space Gallery September 25, 2006 Burlington, VT Red Square Club Metronome Radio Bean September 26, 2006 Ithaca, NY Castaways September 27, 2006 Buffalo, NY Nietzsche’s Chameleon Milestone’s September 28, 2006 Cleveland, OH Wexner Center For the performing arts Club Café Grogshop Canal St. Tavern The Lime Spider September 29, 2006 Ann Arbor, MI Blind Pig September 30, 2006 Chicago, IL The Note Schubas Tavern Elbo Room Bottom Lounge October 1, 2006 Madison, WI The Barrymore Theatre The Annex Angelic Brewing Company October 2, 2006 Chicago/other, IL Logan Square Auditorium Beat Kitchen Double Door The Subterranean The Empty Bottle House of Blues October 3, 2006 Indianapolis, IN Second story night club Radio Radio October 4, 2006 Off October 5, 2006 TBA, KY The Southgate house The Dame October 6, 2006 Off October 7, 2006 Richmond, VA Patchwork Collective Show Thanks again. .:.
