  1. up. Any advice on NAD Receivers? Thanks!
  2. Yeah man! I'm going to have to buy a plane ticket for that one! Maybe Organissimo will be playing somewhere in Chicago that week as well!
  3. You won't have any problem dealing with Apple Brandon. We've had to send computers in before and they've been very easy to deal with. Have you seen the new ipod, just introduced? Go to www.apple.com.
  4. I was one that called it in four. I guess it was the night before the first game. They had so much momentum going, but I really didn't think they would shut the Cards down the way they did. I couldn't have guessed how COLD the Cards would be. I'm still thinking Foulke should have been series MVP, but Manny's numbers were pretty damn impressive too.
  5. These last few years living in NE has made me a Sox fan for life. This team was so much fun to watch and I'm happy for them, and for all of the NE natives that hung in there all these years. When the players say that the Red Sox fans are the best in the world, they really aren't blowing smoke. It is intense up here. My family has been a Cubs fan since I was a little kid, and I married into a family of Cubs fans, so I'm stuck to them as well. Can't hurt to have an AL and an NL team right? I mean, they rarely play each other, right? Still waiting for that magic match-up... BTW, I called it in 4 on the World Series poll!
  6. Hey guys. I'm looking for a few places to start. I am going to be replacing my current receiver soon and am looking at the NAD 742. I haven't brought it home yet, but I've checked it out in the shop and read quite a few positive reviews describing it as musical in stereo, and when used in 5.1 or Pro Logic II, very convincing. I'm looking for something in this price range (under $500) that will be good for CDs and for small home theater. I know the NAD 742 doesn't have many DSP listening features, but I'm not as interested in that to be honest. I am looking for a receiver with good electronics to reproduce good sound. The receiver I have now sends some digital trash to the surrounds in Pro Logic. Any comments about NAD? Any other recommendations? Thanks.
  7. Yeah, he also did the duets with Bill Evans in 1962 on Blue Note. I haven't heard Blow Up, but I imagine he was around when Herbie was coming up with the music and he probably was just top of mind as a musician that Herbie wanted to include.
  8. What's the word?
  9. One more thing. I'm a little green. What are the musicians in this band otherwise known for. I recognize a few names. This band is great!
  10. The bonus DVD is great, but where's the rest?! That track of ISIS is killer! Anyone know if there is more footage? Will it be released? I(t) SHALL BE RELEASED!
  11. The photo with Pedey didn't come through on Safari, but the other looks eerily like Dr Moreau (sp)! I know I'm a transplant to New England, Vint, but I can't help but hang on every pitch. If they don't win this year... I just don't understand how you guys don't give up year after year. The fans I mean... DIE HARD has a whole new meaning to me now.

  13. Hey, I fixed it! I had forgotten about that feature. Now I guess I'm an advertiser too!
  14. I didn't even know I had a signature! I'll take a peek.
  15. What was the signature? I've always had the signatures turned off. I once had a friend whose grandparents would always put the tv on mute when the advertisements came on. I guess that's how I always saw signatures. Same thing over and over again.
  16. Clean livin', dirty mind impossible
  17. wow. thanks. I've b een listening to his Blue Note disc with Stefon Harris and Scott Amendola today for the first time. I like that tune "People" alot.
  18. I'm picking up my copy next week at the local shop. I'm sure its all over the net by now, but I want to wait. I'm so mixed about this, knowing there will never be another Elliott Smith melody.
  19. I guess I'll have to give The Infinte another listen soon. I don't remember it being near as good as you guys say it is. It might just boil down to taste though, I suppose.
  20. I think this is a great shot, and it really puts into perspective just how chopped his mallets are!
  21. I've been digging into Cannoball a lot lately. Milt Jackson too, and some of Bobby Hutcherson's four mallets playing (Action!, Firebirds, etc). Non jazz stuff... Bob Dylan Rolling Thunder Revue has been playing a lot lately and I just JUST discovered T Rex Electric Warrior that hit the spot for some reason today. Oh, and Matthew Sweet!
  22. What the hell is Ruth's Chris doing in a fast food discussion? Couldn't be further. I love fast food. And I love eating it in my car. While I'm driving. And reading liner notes. Wendy's McDonald's Taco Bell Arby's (damn I miss Arby's, but Rhode Island has it's own RB culture... Walt's Roast Beef, Miller's Roast Beef) no drive thru's though Jack In The Box (another one I miss up here in NE) Hardee's (not up here either) Dunkin Donuts (never past 10AM, I just won't succumb) and the sub shops Jersey Mike's D'Angelo's The burrito craze that popped up in the late nineties never really caught on with me. Charlotte had Phat Burrito. Right across the street from Price's Chicken Coup. Take your hands and make an "O" with your thumbs touching each other. That is a dainty Phat Burrito. No room for sides on that one. Guac is always good with burritos though. Did you ever go to Price's Shawn D? And I LOVE pizza! I'll try anybody's pizza.
  23. I listened to the samples on the label site and didn't feel anything. I guess I was expecting a more dense rhythmic element to this music. I didn't feel a vibe.
