  1. Apparently the rights to "Lonely Woman" cannot be obtained through Harry Fox. They directed him to Phrase Text.
  2. VCU will be a tough opponent for FSU.
  3. Is there any way to really know?
  4. Richmond, VA accounts for 1/8 of Sweet Sixteen.
  5. An they have a very distinct smell. Not kidding.
  6. Thanks for that ad Lon. That is a nice looking piece of furniture. And functional. Dig the analog clock!
  7. I was going to guess Wild Bill without having seen the photo, but reading the name Jacquet.
  8. Yes. Of. Thanks. The BN is Along Came John. Bought based on the comment about the organ sounding like it is in the room on this mix. I was really hoping for some big power based on this comment, like Jimmy Smith Live At Smalls, for instance. Oh well, not my favorite session, though the tune "Gee Gee" really burns.
  9. Did Motian play with Mobley? Perhaps this is a 6 degrees of Hank thing.
  10. That's too bad. They were the Andy Warhol of poetry, and for many people, the only exposure to poetry.
  11. *Happy* BIRTHDAY (Rooster Ties) !!!!!
  12. Bummer. I was afraid it was true. Sorry for the bad news guys.
  13. Yes. I bought this, along with a BN from importcds.com. Thanks for the lead Dmitry.
  14. Maybe The Camel then. Also a great venue. Let me see what I can do.
  15. Out In The Afternoon is really incredible. I've never owned this album. I bought Rip, Rig, and Panic/Please Don't You Cry Now Beautiful Edith and a friend bought Out In The Afternoon way back when. We haven't lived in the same town since 1999. I figured now's the time. Great album. Great sound. Especially RRK and the strangely hard panned reverb on the drum kit. Glad to finally own this album.
  16. Did you get set up in RVA?
  17. Happy birthday from NC!
  18. You can't tell? We look a lot alike! The bassist. Cameron Ralston.
  19. I have, and can strongly recommend Conception Vessel and Tribute.
  20. This is a new release coming out in April. My brother is a part of this project. Each musician was asked to bring a piece of music to the sessions. My brother chose, and arranged "Ghosts" by Albert Ayler. Here is a video
  21. I just saw mention that Melvin Sparks has passed? This is totally unfounded and I am hoping someone here can deny. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melvin_Sparks Damn. This certainly is matter of fact and abrupt. Was someone waiting by the computer to update the page? Still no mention elsewhere.
  22. I am feeling very small at the moment, realizing just how far away all of this is and just how little this affects daily life here. Very sad to think that most folks are going on about their business as if nothing is happening.
  23. Thanks Chuck. I thought he was going about it all wrong.
  24. I have a friend (trombonist) who is releasing an album this spring that would like to include their version of "Lonely Woman". He left a message with Phrase Text last week. I was wondering if anyone could provide direct contact info? If PM is more appropriate, please contact me this way. Thanks y'all. Cary
