  1. I'll remember that Jim. Hopefully that 29 days is bonus time, not penalty.
  2. I met Jack today. Charlie as well. I cut myself off at a certain point. I think I could have spent $1,000 easy on jazz vinyl alone. This was a great shop. I bought a few Warne Marsh albums, Bird on Dial, Coltrane Ballads, Lester Bowie, Herbie Nichols, Gigi Gryce, Live Curtis, Basement Tapes, etc etc and passed on so many great things. I haven't looked inside the bags since the train ride. My birthday came 29 days early this year. Thanks Jack.
  3. Jack, I'll be in Boston on Friday and plan on meeting an old RI pal at your shop, then beers at Pretty Things. It has been about 7 years since I've been to the shop. Glad to see you'll be open a few months longer! Cary
  4. I personally don't give a shit and I just want to make sure as many members as possible know where I stand. Perhaps I'll start a thread if this one gets too long.
  5. I have the former. I know about the latter, but have never seen or heard it. Pretty good?
  6. I know the CDs are notoriously terrible and an illegal use of the original licensing.
  7. Funny that Emil is mentioned here. I think a lot of people associate him with Wrecking Crew. He was not a "member", correct? I have his Microtonal Blues Band impulse! lp. Haven't pulled it out in a while! May be time!
  8. Huh. This Rollins sounds really good to me. And yes, the cover art is preserved with a 1/4" white margin around the edge. The shop owner was French and told me how bad the Pathe Marconis were. Played this for me in the shop. We were all impressed.
  9. Is anyone familiar with Applause vinyl? I found a beautiful copy of Newk's Time yesterday for cheap and it sounds incredible. I'm wondering what the story is here? How many BN titles did they license? The cover is beautiful!
  10. JLH you've got me holding out for vinyl!
  11. Some good stuff on the list.
  12. So have you given ISN'T ANYTHING a spin?
  13. Jazz SACD at importcd http://www.importcds.com/Music/SACD/Jazz
  14. Apparently the rights to "Lonely Woman" cannot be obtained through Harry Fox. They directed him to Phrase Text.
  15. VCU will be a tough opponent for FSU.
  16. Is there any way to really know?
  17. Richmond, VA accounts for 1/8 of Sweet Sixteen.
  18. An they have a very distinct smell. Not kidding.
  19. Thanks for that ad Lon. That is a nice looking piece of furniture. And functional. Dig the analog clock!
  20. I was going to guess Wild Bill without having seen the photo, but reading the name Jacquet.
  21. Yes. Of. Thanks. The BN is Along Came John. Bought based on the comment about the organ sounding like it is in the room on this mix. I was really hoping for some big power based on this comment, like Jimmy Smith Live At Smalls, for instance. Oh well, not my favorite session, though the tune "Gee Gee" really burns.
  22. Did Motian play with Mobley? Perhaps this is a 6 degrees of Hank thing.
  23. That's too bad. They were the Andy Warhol of poetry, and for many people, the only exposure to poetry.
