.:.impossible replied to Guy Berger's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
clem, i'm only trying to soften the blow for guy... remember, i gladly left charlotte for the warm winds of providence, ri before getting back to new liverpool. ain't much that could bring me back to charlotte, other than a visit. fact of the matter is, i HOPE all of those places are still there. and there are plenty of other places that were there when i was, but aren't anymore. everything that everyone has said on this thread is true. i'm just trying to give guy a few places to get started. charlotte and athens (GA) aren't even in the same country! -

Guy, tell me where you are going to be living. I can give you the soul food and neighborhood pubs that you are looking for. MANIFEST DISC AND TAPE. Used to be a Kroger. Starmont and South, if I'm not mistaken. -
Thanks. A lot of folks further South from here have been trying to get me to subscribe to Paste for the past couple of years. Seems like a decent magazine. I like print. Yeah, I know what bit torrent is. Are you talking about oiink though? Carrboro is only two hours west from here, but no, I don't hang out at CD Alley every week.

Thanks Ghost. I appreciate you keeping us up on Elliott-related occurrences.

Elliott Smith died October 21, 2003, in his home in Los Angeles. To date the coroner has been unable to determine the cause of death, and the investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department remains open. In modern parlance, WTF.

No reason to tell you this, but I don't own any M Ward. I don't know that I've ever heard him, but I know the name well. No one's ever played any for me and I've never really been inclined to check him out. Not to say that I won't. Hoo knows, it could be just what I'm looking for when I find it. I'll take Happy Woman Blues any day. We all love that one. Out of curiousity, where DO you go for your non-jazz reviews? Is there really anyone worth a damn that IS writing about rock music?

nice.

I really don't know why I feel inclined to get involved in this one, as it is so similar to many of the other EDC SHITS ON ___, but I see a pattern of assumption on EDC's part. If you think that we are all listening and seeking out music for the same reasons that you are, you are most likely wrong. I don't see how someone's enthusiasm for new Lucinda Williams music merits, prompts, has anything to do with M Ward, Anita Carter, Anita Carter, Anita Carter, Billy and his Wrinkle Necks, et al. I know. You don't have time. As much as I find your recommendations enlightening, the hipster (no, what's more hip than hipster) approach to others honest reactions is a real bummer. Signed with my left hand (has no meaning), Giant Kinetic Machines* (has nothing to do with anything discussed here, but that doesn't seem to be a constraint for anyone else, so what the fuck RIGHT?) *from here, we will refer to this character as GKM, gkm, gikm, GIKM, git machine, and last but not least, why not just make a recommendation based on someone's interests, instead of throwing rotten apples at them from the climbable branches? oh, i should have looked closer at the apple bbbb before typing. it had someone's name dropped/carved into the skin.) (isn't it y'all?, really not sure.) don't click add reply. awe fuck it

Thanks. I hadn't seen the Kirk/Cage film before.

One way to improve internet radio experience...
.:.impossible replied to Rupertdacat's topic in Jazz Radio & Podcasts
I have a squeezebox. It is a whole new world out there. Radio streaming from everywhere! Still trying to figure out how to program rostasi in there, but... I don't know... squeezenetwork still sounds like internet radio to me. I'm loving the squeezebox though. -
The Police reunite on the Grammys last night
.:.impossible replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I feel like I read that Oysterhead is going to be touring again. Chug a can of pork soda and go see Stew in that band. Les Claypool fires up in a way that Gordon does not. They also play for less $$$. I had no idea that Summers was almost 10 years older than the other two. Anyway, I was mega-impressed with Copeland on the Grammys the other night. He was on fire. Almost makes me want to see them on tour. -

What are you sitting in?
.:.impossible replied to .:.impossible's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I had an Aeron at an office a few years back. Definitely a nice chair. I just don't have the money for that price range. On top of everything, I was rear-ended yesterday by a 19 year old kid driving a 1976 Chrysler Cordova (I had never seen one before). He was going about 35, according to the sheriff that was driving by when it happened. I was at a stop light at a dead stop. His passenger told the cops that the driver was waving to a girl when he hit me. This chair is less comfortable than its ever been right now. -
Ornette @ grammys
.:.impossible replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Seemed like a Chili Pepper pose as usual. Seriously, they couldn't have had Ornette play with them? No spontaneous magic in high paid rock anymore. Too many publicists and record execs to think about I guess. There is nothing spontaneous about RHCP anymore. -
If you can read this, you are sitting in front of a computer. Chances are, the chair you sit in to use your computer is the chair that you sit in more than any other chair in the house. For some reason, my office chair is the cheapest piece of furniture in the house, yet I use it more than every other chair in the house (I have a home office). I am looking for a new office chair. Any recommendations?
