  1. Hmm. I had never heard of baidu.com. This is very relevant as my brother's band, ILAD, is currently mixing their second LP at SOMA Studios this weekend. I had proposed to them that they release the album in a limited quantity of heavy vinyl, and allow owners of the vinyl access to downloads so they could have the music in a more portable format as well. I still think it is difficult NOT to have a CD, especially for promotional purposes, so we are discussing details there as well. Any ideas?
  2. I second the Milian, thanks to couw + vint. Great shit.
  3. The answer to your equation is ~$5.00. I have to admit: I used a calculator.
  4. I wonder, really really wonder, how we (the human race) got so far off track in such a short amount of time. Think about how complex the manufacture of a mattress has become. My county has an award program for developers that build using sustainable, energy efficient and ecologically friendly techniques. Hopefully, your county does too, but what the hell??? We have to provide an incentive for people to be intelligent. Good dog. As a friend of mine sings, "Technology is in its terrible twos!"
  5. I've used them. I've never had a problem. Then again, I've never had a problem with any brand.
  6. Hmm... my cousin and uncle told me on Saturday never to see this movie. They were very vague though. Glad to hear a conflicting opinion.
  7. Man, I was looking at a magazine last month that did a feature on 'green' mattresses. It was a slap in the f'ing face when I saw the price tag of a natural mattress. Where did humankind get so far off track that a mattress containing no artificial products cost 10x the price of the a mattress composed of mostly petroleum-based products? And when did that become the socially acceptable object to sleep on? Try explaining the mattress of 2007 to your counterpart of a pre-Industrial era. It seems farcical.
  8. He said blowjob Jim. Word of mouth...
  9. What was your name over there? I saw a billboard off of I-95 back in 03 about the forums and decided to take a look.
  10. over and out.
  11. You guys are nit-wits. Do you realize what you are arguing (over the internet) about? Ridiculous.
  12. USA Spec Rod, I think USA Spec and direct link are synonymous. I just couldn't deal with the FM transmitter. Constantly looking for a clean frequency to use. I hated it. My wife found the USA Spec parts on ebay for half price. Definitely look there.
  13. This one smokes. Clark Terry smoked my last cigarette.
  14. People are giving pianos away all the time. Jazz venues usually have a house piano as well. Just show up!
  15. I'm still rocking the 3G 20GB ipod. It is scratched to hell and has a sticker on the back from when I sent it in to have the battery replaced in 2004 under warranty. I just had the battery replaced again under the class action suit and have retired it to the car. I installed a USA Spec that my wife gave me for Christmas. I'm thinking this ipod will last a long time now that I am never using the battery anymore. Honestly, I wasn't much of a walkman type of person anyway. I have always wanted to be able to use this thing in the car and FM transmitters just weren't worth a damn. As the 3G 20GB ipod reaches 'classic' status, I am using it more than ever before. My other new toy is the Squeezebox. Man, this thing is great. Rod, how can I find your rodcasts???
  16. Another good random trick is to sort by time in itunes, then select a range and upload to the ipod. 4:13 minute tracks through 10:04 minute tracks, for instance. Hit 'shuffle songs' on the ipod if you like. Hours of ifun.
  17. Yeah, I didn't think the strings would be what riverrat was looking for at all. While we're talking about World Galaxy, I hear tape manipulation being used in the arrangements. Am I crazy? I should listen to this album this week. I remember there being tape manipulation that made the string arrangements sound even more wild.
  18. The Goldsworthy doc is beautiful. I hear a lot about Glennie from schooled percussionists, but I've never heard or seen her. This should be interesting. Didn't Frith do the music for the Goldsworthy doc as well? If you haven't seen that film, or don't know who Goldsworthy is, I would highly recommend finding a copy. Netflix perhaps? Goldsworthy is working on so many levels, it is incredible. Definitely a man in tune.
  19. Both of these will probably sound great to you. Other recommendations might be further out than you want to go.
