It baffles me, too. I have no doubt that if used properly and to one's own advantage, Facebook can be an awesome tool for many things. However, there have been a couple of well-publicized downsides. Off the top of my head: 1. I've heard stories of job offers being rescinded because of behavior witnessed on Facebook accounts. 2. Kids often post pics on Facebooks that have been taken using smartphones. Last year, it was discovered that such pics contain GPS technology embedded in them. Predators have been using this technology to actively stalk children. As a father of two teenagers, this is the one I have the biggest problem with. Hopefully, I've helped you guys to become a little more unbaffled. 1. Well, yes, one is responsible for what one says or does on the internet. FB has nothing to do with it. One can find out a great deal about a person by reading posts on Organissimo as well. And if privacy settings are set up properly, only those who you allow to see anything you post can, well, see whatever you post. 2. Again, GPS info is more a feature of smart phones than of FB itself - and can easily be disabled on both platforms. Given that FB has something like a billion active users, I also doubt your fears are as widespread as you might think. Again, if privacy settings are set up properly, there's no way a "predator" could even see your postings - unless you let them of course. The point here is that while many adults can figure stuff out easily, teenagers often cannot, and therefore are more vulnerable. This is key because pedophiles do NOT stalk adults, after all. You'll note that I did state that if used properly, Facebook can be a useful tool. Perhaps, the bigger problem is that Facebook is a large part of the "too much technology" epidemic. Reducing the availability, reduces the danger. Yeah but I'm willing to bet that teenagers represent the largest demographic. Therefore, my 2nd point is a HUGE one. I am not judging Facebook users --- whatever floats your boat and such. I was just conjecturing as to why there might be so much negativity about it on this board.

You left off Pablo Sanchez. Just sayin'. And about 7 or 8 Mets! Hey Goodie, how's Pagan doing over there? Torres is batting like .211! Heard an interview with him the other day on the radio with the local NYC blowhard, Mike Francesa. I did not know that he was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult. Apparently, he was experiencing problems with it since childhood, but was never correctly diagnosed. The NYU Film school has done a documentary on him and his plight called "Gigante".

Awesome sports day for me in NY -- Mets win Yankees lose and just for good measure, Devils lose Can't get any better!

I just saw a replay of the umpire's missed call on the Beltran shot. I gotta say that as a lifelong Mets fan, I am of course ecstatic about the no-hitter. But in my mind, this one is now marred by what obviously should have been a hit. So, the Mets still have no no-no's. I read someplace today that the teams in MLB are paying out $3.1 million a day to players who are on the DL. When you consider the overall revenue stream maintained by MLB teams, this is mere pocket change.

Writers here in NY are already speculating on the Yanks being first in line to show Josh the money.

This came out on cd in Japan a couple of months ago: http://www.dustygroove.com/item.php?id=qthdw8gy3j&ref=browse.php&refQ=kwfilter%3Droy%2Bhaynes%26amp%3Bincl_oos%3D1%26amp%3Bincl_cs%3D1

Yeah, caught some of that before watching a movie...how can he, in his mid 80's, still do the work of 2 broadcasters??? I was also thinking how someone , say 20 years old in 1950, could have listened to him do Brooklyn Dodger games, now, 62 plus years later, flips through the channels late night in May of 2012, and hears him still broadcasting Dodger games... One of the most refreshing aspects of Scully is that he knows when to shut up. It can be so annoying when you have these three man booths and they feel that someone has to be talking all the time. You get lots of inanities and even more plain hot air. A couple of years ago Ken Singleton & Paul O'Neill were due to broadcast a Yanks/Os game in Baltimore. O'Neill had plane problems and never made it to the game, so Singleton did it solo. It was a joy to listen to, Singleton let the pictures tell the story at times, and he actually let the game breathe. I wish we could get more games called by one guy. I think Michael Kay is the biggest blowhard of the bunch, not to mention John Sterling on the radio.

Is there a difference anymore? You haven't been paying attention. Listen to Cleaver on Farmers by Nature or any Lotte Anker cd VS. his appearances on any of the last few Jeremy Pelt cd's.

There are many great young drummers around today. Gerald Cleaver impresses for his ability to play in any musical situation, inside and out.

I have 6 or 7 cd's. I don't think the set with Pat Metheny was released. The Montreal Tapes - 6CD set (released 2009 by Universal France) Picked it up via Ebay a couple of years back (was much cheaper then) Indeed, the Metheny set was not included here Best prices now are via Amazon France or Canada Yes, the 7th cd is the duo with Egberto Gismonti released by ECM: http://www.allmusic.com/album/in-montreal-r542239 I think there were some legal hangups with the Metheny set. Wish they could be worked out.

Harland's date is a good one. Btw, JAME is an anagram consisting of the first initial of each guy in the group.

Definitive released a 4 cd Complete American Small Group Recordings set and a 3 cd Complete 1946-1951 European Small Group Master Takes set 10 years ago that I can recommend. These are both OOP and fetch high prices now, though.

I guess in 1962 Jan Johansson wasn't as "far out" yet (comparatively speaking) as he was later in the 60s. His "Domnerus period" (see Dragon DRCD 186, for example) sounds relatively straightforward and in keeping with modern mainstream jazz of that period to me. @EKE BBB: What site would you recommend for purchaing within Europe? An Amazon search drew a blank. Jazz Messengers in Spain. Yes, my experience with them (shipping to Spain) has always been positive. So has mine, shipping to New York.

I read the post quickly and misunderstood. No shenanigans intended.

I'm mad about that album. Pharoah's contribution is brilliant too. Why does that anger you?

Should we regard this, with hands wringing (or is that wringing hands? -- don't want any dangling modifiers), as a Coleman Hawkins IPO matter? In other words, did orders overwhelm the machines? Maybe they've sold out already? I dunno, it sounded like a one time deal to me. He gave me some hope mine would ship today, but I'm not counting on it. It would be nice to delve into this over the long weekend. If it ships tomorrow, I won't get it until Tuesday. N.B. Dangling modifiers left out to please all anal-retentive grammarians.

Has anyone received these that can respond on the remastering? I'd probably spring for the Mingus and the Weather Report if they are indeed remastered. They're not due until July 30. If you have a connection at Sony (I don't), that may be worth a try. Otherwise, I'd say Pop Market customer service will be useless. I know that Mark Wilder pops up now and again at the Hoffman board. Maybe you could try pm'ing him?

In other news, Mike Woodson is about to sign on as Knicks coach. Can Isaiah be far behind? This team may not win another title ever!
