I thought Sue proposed physical options of 4 or 6 cd's. They obviously chose 6. What do you mean by "complete"?

This is coming out MUCH sooner than I expected. Had no idea things were moving this fast, but I'm glad they are!

Purely a money move. It's what the Knicks are about.
-
The Knicks have looked rather foolish with all this PG nonsense over the last few days. Further proof, I'm afraid, that they'll never win anything. Word is they're gonna compound all the (lin)sanity by resigning a mediocre (at best) PG to a heavily backloaded contract based on a 35 game playing sample from last year.

I'm not doing this with you anymore. I'm a New Yorker too so I know where YOU'RE coming from. If you want to continue this, send a pm. Btw, wiki has never been considered a trusted source. There's a first time for everything! -

No less than being English or Welsh, but clearly not the same, as the component parts of Great Britain have their own historical identities. It would be incorrect to assume English and British are synonyms. Being a Lubavitcher or Satmar Hasid is not the same as being Jewish, but all Hasidim are also Jews. I am also a Jew according to Jewish law even though I'm an atheist. But you do seem to enjoy "correcting" people with incorrect information. The same as you seem to enjoy correcting my (in your eyes) incorrect correcting! As you pointed out, each country within the United Kingdom has its own cultural and historical identity. As such, Jack Bruce would no sooner call himself British or English (staying with your love of semantics) than Tubby Hayes or John Surman would call themselves Irish or Scottish. That would be tantamount to me calling myself a Californian. -

Misspelling aside, he is SCOTTISH, and therefore CANNOT be one of the most important British musicians. As Scotland (at least at the moment) is part of Great Britain I am not quite sure what you mean. It's gotten old already at this point, but, fwiw, is being Scottish the same as being British? -

The Mets are an enigma! And how does Sandoval get voted the starting 3rd baseman in the All-Star game over Wright?

That would be true if only he was British! -
Dickey first to 12. He really is a gamer. He showed me something when he hit the Dodgers' shortstop with a pitch after Harang intentionally hit the Mets' shortstop who had gone 3-3 against him to that point. More bullshit baseball from immature little boys. This is the bravado nonsense that needs to stop being taught at the college level. Oh, but wait.....that's another thread!

New Wayne Shorter Columbia Box set- 6 CDs
JETman replied to jazzkrow's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Import CDS have the Shorter Columbia Box for $22.45 Why is the Wayne Shorter box way cheaper than the Woody Shaw Box.....same amount of 6 cds. Supply and demand. Fewer people want the Wayne box than want the Woody box. -
Note the completely vertical arm slot when the ball is released. That is the very definition of a 12 to 6 yakker. So? That doesn't automatically make it a strike! The only pitcher I saw who threw this consistently for a real strike was Dwight Gooden. Umps are lazy today. It's basically the same for when your cleat is within 5 feet of 2nd base on a double play relay.

I'm not sure how you got that conclusion out of anything I said, or anybody else. By not doing more, and not doing anything very quickly at all, he enabled Sandusky. He also effectively enabled him by allowing him continued access to the PSU facilities with little boys when he KNEW Sandusky had been fired for likely abusing little boys. I hope you'd agree as a Debate Coach (or whatever you claimed to be in the past) that enabling somebody and being the reason somebody does something are two different things. Again, it is your constitutional right to be enabled to believe what you want to believe. I prefer fact over unfounded and media inspired hysteria. After those Penn State authorities go to trial, I think you will find the truth will out. Many of you guys are extremely thick-headed about this. You're all about keeping the circle waaaaay too small. The real issue here goes beyond this extremely sad case of pedophilia. Paterno's sins (as I mentioned on like page 1 of this thread) extend beyond this case. The NCAA and the emphasis placed on college sports programs in this country is the real culprit. Paterno was just another boneheaded enabler. Sports under the guise of academia continues to turn out bad people behaving badly, and nobody gives a shit. An additional travesty is that these athletes are paid for their god-given talents (they attend universities for FREE plus perks), and people like me will have to cough up $40,000 per year minimum to send their children with god-given INTELLIGENCE to these same schools. Will someone please stop the insanity??? -
My favorite is Burnt Weeny Sandwich which for some reason isn't listed in the first dozen. So for the new reissues I agree that Hot Rats is your best bet, and The Grand Wazoo and Waka/Jawaka would be other good bets in terms of music without much in the way satire which may or may not be your thing. (I'm also basing this on knowing that like me you're a fan of The Great Deceiver. It's different music of course but these albums tend to match up well with the certain somethings that cause ardent fanship.) I read a blurb on one of the other forums from a former Zappa insider (forgot the specifics) where supposedly Waka/Jawaka now sounds better than any other CD version. Uncle Meat rates highly too but I'm waiting to see if the movie soundtrack dialogue "penalty tracks" have been removed. Albums with a more lyrical emphasis provide enjoyment too (both early, later and even much later), but it becomes very hard to recommend them as they're dependent upon one's sense of humor and whether the targets of the time translate well today. Even the ones I like I tend to only like for about a dozen nonconsecutive days a year. Thanks for this. To put it simply, I am a fan of music played "skillfully".

As has been the case from the beginning with SNL, Ferrell probably wrote the sketches he appeared in. So what does this really say about his supposed comic aptitude, then?

This is yet another baffling case of today's lazy umpires calling a pitch a strike based on where it lands rather than where or whether or not it actually crosses the plate.

Received the Japanese CD a couple of days ago & listened to it tonight (with & without headphones) - what a disappointment - it sounds like a "needle drop" with continuous background sound on many of the tracks. Maybe it's just the poor initial recording (as Brownie mentions) Regarding Japanese needle drops, they do exist - I have a DIW Ayler CD (The First Recordings, Vol. 2) that is definitely a "drop" - you can hear pops/crackles throughout most of the disc Anyone else had a listen yet? The music is 50 years old. Given what we know about the track record of some of these record companies in the area of "tape worship", could it not be possible that the masters are just not in good shape, or that they're using 2nd generation and beyond simply because the 1st gens don't exist anymore? This is not rocket science. Why all the analysis?
-
For me, Hot Rats, Uncle Meat, Burnt Weeny Sandwich, Weasels, Absolutely Free (for nostalgia's sake; I was 12 when I first bought it), and Fillmore East (absolutely brilliant satire). If you want to narrow it down to one or two, Hot Rats and Uncle Meat. Thanks. What about the other live one -- band from LA or somesuch?

Couldn't have put it better myself MG Thank you. The obvious is lost on many here. I have received great pleasure from Facebook in reconnecting with old friends who I knew decades ago, but lost touch with. They have now become some of my closest friends again. This has added to the quality of my life very significantly. It would not have happened except for Facebook. One can be glib about dismissing something, and ridiculing others, but there can be more than one credible way to look at an issue. I was not ridiculing anything. As you may recall (if not, look it up), my first post was a response to someone who wondered aloud why anyone could possibly find anything wrong with Facebook. AFAIC, you do what makes you happy, and I'll do the same. I'd hate to be the guy, though, who signed up for Facebook only to find out that the person(s) I was looking for was not a member.

For someone new to Zappa, which of the first 12 being released are "must haves"?

He appeared mentally ill in the interview. His lawyers are idiotic narcissists.
