  1. Personally I like the CD autochanger in the trunk. You choose 6 (or however many) CDs. Then on mine at least there is one (physical) button for each CD - push button '1' and it plays CD one. Advantage? It is safe and easy. The kind where you feed CDs into the dash? Tedious. The kind where the interface is a series of touch screens? Tedious and dangerous. Controlling your iPod while driving? Um, not that safe either. People die and kill fiddling with those iPod/CD interfaces.
  2. Only on this board.
  3. In this probably invented anecdote, Churchill was making a point against the grammar fanatics...
  4. And polishing them is trickier than you might think: http://www.ehow.com/how_5179312_clean-antique-thimbles-unknown-age.html
  5. Art Ensemble infallibility has a good but not unassailable lead...
  6. I told them CHUCK - C-H-U-C-K - did they listen? did they? Anyway they let me have a discount - what can I say.
  7. I know that Naxos raised its wholesale prices. Yes Naxos did, retail price is now £8 in UK, but I am surpised that online price is now often equal to bricks-and-mortar price. I was looking at buying some ECMS and saw many at £15 online price - not all, but many, and I see other things are goung this way.
  8. There's a woodwind quintet (with a 'trumpet interlude' by Ornette, and a couple of string quartet pieces. It is 'of interest' but I should think you would already know if you really need it or not.
  9. That's all I can tell you. There has been a CD of Forms and Sounds, right, in that Bluebird series? I have the LP so I never bought it.
  10. Neglected can just mean hard-to-find. Top of my list is New York Art Quartet, Mohawk. I guess if you can google it, you can find it.
  11. RIP. I'll break out one of his Winterreise's tonight.
  12. All that and defending the Alamo.
  13. I told them it was *jazz* you'd been caring for all this time but they thought 'children' would play better with the local press. As if.
  14. Yay. I wonder if CDs will ever make a similar comeback?
  15. Tell us all!
  16. Here's one for collectors at Jazz House in uk IKE QUEBEC BLUE & SENTIMENTAL - WHITE LABEL TEST PRESSING SIGNED/ APPROVED IKE QUEBEC VG+/VG+ BLUE NOTE W 61st USA £300.00 BLP4098
  17. It used to be much easier to pick up a full price CD for under £10 and a Naxos for under £5. Now £15 is common for full price (that's more like shop price) and often £8 for Naxos. Looks like both HMV and Amazon decided they need to make more off this stuff...
  18. Ah, apologies for one of my ever recurring mistakes. Accepted, as long as you make allowance for my recurring corrections.
  19. I'm going to print this out and file it!
  20. You are surely right that the 1995 Easy Living is very findable and cheap, but the other title is impossible. So like you I think I've got enough.
  21. Now I know for sure you live in a dream! You suppose wrongly since you take my conjunctive statement as something you think I might believe is possible these days. As I know that's not an option, I let you live on in your dream thinking you know where I live. Btw, if you have those two CDs for sale (you do keep repeating CDs are worth sh*t, after all, don't you?), send them over to me, please, I'll send you two quid. Don't worry I do know you know that. An idle pleasantry. I'm sure I could find you those CDs though - but I am not sure which ones you want...?
  22. He started the ECM thread!
  23. Now I know for sure you live in a dream!
  24. The list of jazz worthies is never ending. Every recorded note merits its own decenially remastered shrine. Only a Borgesian biopic in which every lived minute is amplified to a full narrative hour could adequately honor the true truth of the truly true. Seriously would any of you guys even watch a biopic? I mean, about anybody? This guy is spending his own cash - so what? Biopic is among the most degraded forms of cinema. I suspect the film is in limbo because no matter how he strings together the footage there is no way to make it remotely interesting.
