  1. Great interview. And on origins of Ayler tunes in Swedish music and French folk song...! I don’t get out enough...
  2. These two have been doing some sterling Coltrane tributes round here in the last several years:
  3. The one time I heard CT was at a 1987 concert in Rome which was part of the tour documented on Leo records Bologna and Vienna volumes. Now I know that group had just five musicians, but memory seems to tell me 8 or 11... edited to add: I just looked at the William Parker sessionography and this gig is not listed alongside Bologna and others. So I’m suddenly not sure what I heard...
  4. That record has a nice groove!
  5. Mosaic don’t own the music. They can’t reissue anything.
  6. Bit boring, that one?
  7. More from Pino. Not even a slight overlap of interests with MG? Anyone?
  8. First appearance on this board for this gentleman? Not jazz. Sax on this one is by - can’t remember. Mel Collins is on a couple of his. Where’s Bev to enjoy that reference? Edited to add: there is one with Wayne Shorter, come to that. A later one has Chick Corea and Ralph Towner. Peter Erskine is drummer on a couple. oh AND... all the Warner titles remastered and reissued this year. On CD, if you remember those. And on vinyl come to that. Fill your boots.
  9. 30 years and two technological generations...!
  10. The license expired. They had thought it expired the following year but had made an error - hence the sudden disappearance.
  11. Take this over...a lot... Wish all music was that exciting. I wish any was...
  12. Perhaps amazingly, the original vinyl is still in print. The whole thing is currently on youtube. Not for everyone...
  13. In the meantime, the Bee Hive set left the website.
  14. Maybe now the owners can do something else with some of this music and it will come out in some other form - ?
  15. You missed a lot. Mosaic issued a range of rare recordings. Yay. Andorra did the same. Boo. Streaming - that’s new. Lon bought a new stereo. Chuck decided that there might be something in this new-fangled CD technology after all. Jim, er. OK it’s all the same. Except: Allen left Maine.
  16. Maybe that’s why the Sun Ship set didn’t stay around long enough for me...
  17. Happy Birthday, Flurin! or Fulton, as spellcheck calls you...
  18. Happy birthday! Keep it unreal...
  19. Ornette + Joachim Kühn / Colors (1997) Forgotten gem?
