  1. Wow, that was fast. Hope I'll see mine soon.
  2. We've been here before, but man, really ... come on. Not a chance.
  3. Irabagon's Foxy is so SO good. The Combria Concert by MOPDTK on Clean Feed is very nice.
  4. As far as records I want? They number in the high hundreds if not above. But these are the hard to find ones that I'm always on the hunt for and will go to the end of the earth to obtain before I die. Unless that happens tomorrow, you know. Joe McPhee - Songs & Dances Braxton - Santa Cruz 1993 / Willisau 1991 / all Moers titles Ran Blake - Take 1 / Take 2 Franz Koglmann - all Hat 6000 series titles Leimgruber/Hauser/Leandre - No Try No Fail Cecil Taylor - Berlin 1988 Lee Konitz - Live at the Half Note Jimmy Giuffre 3 - Empasis & Flight John Carter - Echoes From Rudolph's Tony Oxley - The Baptised Traveller Butch Morris Conducts Berlin Skyscraper David Murray - Death of a Sideman Jimmy Lyons - Riffs / Push-Pull Clifford Thornton - Gardens of Harlem

    Ran Blake

Not that I know. The Connor and Russell albums are the only ones currently listed, but hopefully it won't be out much later. Ran has voiced concerns before about "flooding the market" with albums, so perhaps he's looking to temper that.

    Ran Blake

The Chris Connor recital mentioned by brownie and the George Russell album are slated for release this year, though the later is no longer coming via Hat Hut, no doubt related to their recent financial woes. The Connor album in particular has been among Ran's ambitions for many years so I'm excited to hear the final result.
  7. Nice article; this would make a good mix tape! I love this observation: "Dexter’s always been a favorite, and here’s a great example of his giant sound at full power. It’s also a good example of jazz rocking harder than rock music." Another example is "No Tonic Pres" off Rip, Rig & Panic.
  8. Agreed on Riley and Wright. Also going to add Irene Schweizer. Those Intakts are absolutely locked in the mid-$20 range. I've never seen one of hers for much less.
  9. I was inspired to grab a new Warne Marsh album, but a glance at Amazon reveals nothing affordable that I don't already have. Damn ...
  10. Can you expound on the Mapleshade issue?
  11. Steve, I know you're also a huge fan of the Hemingway 5. I was listening to Waltzes, Two-Steps, & Other Matters of the Heart (culled from multiple shows, alas) the other day and was just newly blown away by how insanely good that band and those songs are. Complete and total mastery. How how how do you so consistently write such melodic, complex, challenging, engaging and above-all enjoyable tunes? Gerry did it, and they played it with ease. And that's how it sounds: so easy!
  12. He's one where if he's on it, I'll check it out. I certainly need more but really enjoy what I have. Blowing In From Chicago and The Highest Mountain are favorites. One of the great examples of a player evolving with the times. I wish someone would collect all the Magic Triangle recordings in one package.
  13. YES. I have been dying for this since I heard. Ordering NOW.
  14. I'm about certain that the new copies sold by Amazon proper ARE indeed the "generic" represses. I would buy secondhand.
  15. So excited to hear the Izenon-Brackeen albums, finally.
  16. I'd like to hear that, but at 55 euro, it's doubtful.
  17. I'm excited to hear the new Ches Smith's These Arches on Clean Feed. I dug the date on Skirl, and more time playing together + the addition of Tim Berne sounds like success to me.
  18. There is a Jazztet Mosaic at Reckless.com for $150. Not a bad price for a scarce one.
  19. I don't know a lot of his stuff, but I really liked the album with Ron Carter & Paul Motian.
  20. Those Jazz Scene USA log sheets are fascinating! Thanks for posting them.
  21. I don't think the later stuff meets Mosaics "standards", as it were, and the earlier stuff has been served extensively by the CD market under the aegis of Cuscuna himself. A dead end, methinks.
  22. The drummer Steve Ellington, who worked with Sam Rivers, Roland Kirk, Dave Holland, Art Farmer, Hal Galper, Hampton Hawes & others has died.
  23. I was thinking of the Bill Dixon Savoy.
  24. Love his work on Mingus at the Bohemia & Plus Max Roach. I know he played on a couple other sides I own (besides TB&TAT) but I can't quite place them. An interesting fellow.
  25. PM sent on Sonny Criss Imperial.
