  1. Amen!
  2. Man, had no idea what everyone's feelings toward him were. Just except he has a different style than most other pianists, if you don't like it, that's cool. I love his Night Train and We Get Requests albums. His Live at CBC Studios release was tremendous! Very fresh. Don't prefer his trio without a drummer.
  3. Or should we say Bassitar!
  4. Do you guys hate him? I read somewhere the jazz purists hate him. Not that I'm calling you jazz purists, but do you like Charlie Hunter? I think he's great. Well what I've heard. I bought his Trio album, Friends Seen and Unseen, and I mean that is one hell of an album. I don't think one song was in 4/4. I find it amazing how he can play that 8 string guitar, doing the bass at the same time playing lead. Any fans?
  5. grow up guys! anyways, Philly Joe Jones, Art Taylor, Max Roach, Connie Kay, Joe Morello, Shelly Manne, etc.
  6. figured*
  7. Thanks. Umm It's not the chord, I tried numerous ones. When I bought the guitar, the guy let me try it out on the amp and it seemed fine. This amp was used not brand new. I fugred I just take it back so they can be bothered with it.
  8. Man, I thought you got signed for a sec. Why you gotta do that Jim? BTW, I just sent out the money o Wed. morning, about the Boogalo Sisters CD.
  9. I just bought a brand new Ibanez Artcore wide body jazz guitar. It was around 400 bucks. The thing is beautiful! I love it. I also bought a new amp with it, and it started working out ok, but I've noticed, when I play, all the sudden, the volume goes all the way down for about 5 seconds, then comes back up. It repeats this about 20 times b4 I get pissed and shut the god damned thing off! Some help? What is this? How can I fix it?
  10. Big John!
  11. I understand this is his pre-"hard hitting" days.. Haven't heard this one yet, but great cover!
  12. Yes! Jimmy Smith's See See Rider. John Coltrane, My Fav Things. MJQ, (the pyramid version of Django)
  13. Maybe I just didn't get the question. I do try to imitate my fav. guitarists, drummers, etc.. sometimes, at least
  14. Nope. Can't say I have.
  15. What about Vanilla Fudge and Moody Blues?
  16. For me, Jon Hendrix's preformance was the worst. You could tell the master was aging.
  17. Don't they only got one hit?
  18. Thanks a BUNCH! It's cool to know, me, Guy, and Lee Morgan are celebrating our b-days. I gotta go do my tradition of playing Blue Train for Lee Morgan's birthday, catcha lata!

    Charlie Haden

I think Charlie's great, his bass playing when without a pianist, is great.
  21. We had fun, we had fun....
  22. I'm sure I read somewhere (or maybe Casey Kasem mentioned it ) that it is a reference to the Civil War. Why, I have no idea ← [/quote/] As soon as you hear Union, think civil war. You know, those blue jackets. Remember the Pucketeers were from the South. Gap in the union. "Man if you have to ask, you'll never know," Louis Armstrong.
  23. Looking foward.
  24. Doesn't it air on Sunday for us Eastern folks?
  25. No. You've got Sonny & Philly doing "Surrey", and before that, the Bird/Max break on "Koko". Probably some others that I'm not thinking of right now. Yikes, I forgot "Koko". Guy ← I hear George Washington and John Adams used to have nightly jam sessions in which this was done.
