  1. Funny "alto story." I have the video, Classic jazz Drummers. There is a video clip of Kenny Clarke with JJ Johnson. With Johnson is Sonny stitt, and some trumpeter that I am not aware of. Looks like everyone in the band didn't pre=plan the arrangements at all, and when someone wanted to take a solo, they just said, "My turn." About 2 seconds into Sonny Stitt's solo, this trumpet player goes up to Sonny, am I'm guessing says, "Can I solo." (The music is too loud to hear,) But then I think Stitt says, no I'm playing, with a sort of nasty look on his face. After his, probaly 32 bar solo, the trumpeter takes the solo to trade off with Kenny, Sonny gives him a dirty look.
  2. Damn, anybody who can watch a porno flick all the way through is seriously messed up! There's a lot of ways to interpert that. I choose to do none.
  3. Just a question about Dialogue. Did hutcherson use a marimba on that session. Some guy said yeah, but listening to samples, all I hear is vibes.
  4. He looked that old in the 60's.
  5. *done*
  6. Saw the first thread in the Organissimo forum.
  7. I don't know anything about the band. Is there just an organist and guitarist?
  8. That jazz kat last season on American Idol!!! Even though he was a horrible singer, (sounded good cuz it was like sinatra, but he practically had no singing technique) he was my favorite. Even though when they made him sing all that garabge, it sounded bad, then they did the "Swing And Dance" music episode the week after he got booted. I bet he was kicking himself.
  9. How many thought Dave Koz's new album, Saxophonic was pitiful. I wouldn't of bought it any how, but I got it as a gift. Spinned it, hated it.
  10. uhhhhh..... I pretty much agree with Allen.... bye bye "license to greeeeaze" Yes, you're banished. Only Andrew Hill for you guys. Speaking of Andrew Hill. I love his later Blue Note albums, but did you guys notice on Hank Mobley's No Room For Squares, he makes two mistakes. I think it was the first track, Three Way Split, I think. He starts to come in during Philly's solo. He stops, finding out it wasn't time yet. It happened again during the album. Just something to note.
  11. Heavy, i don't know. Probaly, the character did. I like the episode where Fred's freeloader friend comes over with his guitar. Fred does a little Louie Armstrong imitating. And Lamont dances to "Cute" at the end. Another episode, where Lena Horne visits. Funny episode.
  12. That's why I dont get why people are taking so much offense to this thread. The man just aked if any brothers in the house.
  13. Around 120 cd's. Burned cd's count? Cuz thats like a 100 more. Plus my vinyls.
  14. I;m gonna go count right now.
  15. Oh yeah I heard Clint was a big jazz kat! Sanford & Son? idk, but I dig that theme song!!!
  16. Home Cookin, Jimmy Smith!
  17. I can't believe someone had the guts to post this. I don't think he intended to be some sort of racist or whatever. My ex-piano teacher always used to tell me, I must of been black in my first life. "We don't want to hear none white opinions," Miles Davis to Bill Evans. Luckily, he was only joking, but apparently Bill took it the wrong way.
  18. Not like I watched them....
  19. Same here. Only moreso. Same here, except even more than your moreso. I'm SO not watching this, that I didn't even know this crappy show was still on except I keep seeing Randy Jackson on talk shows. 5 years ago, you wouldn't have this, but now all of the sudden, Simon, Paula, and Randy Jackson have all had E True Hollywood Stories done on all three.
  20. Yes. I believe she has commented on how she loved Chris Botti's new album.
  21. First of all I can assure you that I am 15. And second of all, you guys are responsible for what you posted, and how it sounded sinister. That's not my fault. I wanted this to be a fun thing. I guess I should of changed the title to, Least Favorite Blue Note Albums. You guys are taking the worst part way too seriously.
  22. I always thought of him more as a piano player than a guitarist. Just listen to his albums. He only plays rhythm acoustic guitar which most of the time gets so burried under all the other instruments. The piano is what speaks out from him.
  23. His brother, Cal played bass marimba in The Baja Marimba Band.
  24. I just got home with Home Cookin' from Jimmy Smith. Pretty nice grooves! Allright. Not one of the worst, by any measure!
  25. I love Philly's solos on that date. I always thought the tunes were pretty cleaver.
