What tune keeps playing in your head?
peterintoronto replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I thought it was "Money makes the world go around?" Lambert, Hendricks and Ross. 'People Make The World Go Round" is a composition by The Stylistics. Milt Jackson does a neat cover on his CTI album, 'Sunflower'. -

I'm An Old Cowhand - Sonny Rollins. I even catch myself whistling the song. It used to be Dexter Gordon's 'Doin' Alright' for the longest time. -

Hi! I have two nice jazz CDs for sale today. 1: Julian 'Cannonball' Adderley's classic Blue Note album 'Somethin' Else'. This is the out-of-print, 24-karat gold plated, USA-made MFSL Ultradisc (UDCD 563). The Inserts are in near-mint condition, as is the disc. It does not come with the original lift-lock case. I am asking $45.00 shipped anywhere in the USA or Canada. 2. Art Pepper's beautiful 1960 Contemporary album 'Intensity'. This is the out-of-print DCC 24-karat gold CD (GZS-1114). It comes with the cardboard slipcase, and the original lift-lock case! There is a slight notch that is at the upper left-hand spine of the case. The disc and all inserts are in near-mint condition. I am asking $35 shipped anywhere in the USA or Canada. All items come from my personal collection. They have been stored carefully in pet-free and smoke-free home. All prices are in U.S. dollars. Payment via PayPal is preferred! Thanks for looking!

Yeah, I probably should have grabbed that $9.99 used copy of Alan Shorter's 'Orgasm' that I saw last week to flip. Too bad I had just paid $29.99 for my eBay copy two months earlier! Eh, it's just money.

The Verve Elite Editions are wonderful, and I am blessed to own perhaps 15 or so of them. I throw out those ugly outer sleeves with the holes on them though! Does anyone else?
-
Replied! Sold pending payment to another Peter! Can it get any better? Yes.....You could have sold the box to me!! Some of my favorite Rollins. I have most of it already as singles. Great stuff. Ya gotta be quick on here! This sale took only 15 minutes! Thank you Peter Johnson for your prompt payment and PM of your mailing address. Your box will be mailed this evening.

Hi! I need to fund my free-jazz vinyl addiction on eBay! For sale today is a near mint copy of Sonny Rollins - The Complete RCA Victor Recordings (6-CD Box). I have never played it. I removed the shrink and it has just sat there in my smoke and pet-free home. It sells new on Amazon for $119.98 and used for $49.98. I am only asking $40.00 (USD) SHIPPED within Canada or the USA! I will send within 24 hours of Paypal payment received! I will package it well, as I want it to arrive to you safely. Thank you for looking. Peter

Yes, I suppose I do misunderstand. Since I am a PM-posting, complaining Canadian, here is another of your PMs: Which is it?
-
Your response was so absurd, I felt that posting it for other members to view was important. You list a ton of items for sale, then don't have the time to sell them? If you didn't want to sell to me, why not be a man and say so? Why the whole thing about it not being worth your time to go to the bank, the post office, etc.? If anything, you just cost yourself prospective buyers. Now that we know it's such a hassle for you to send off stuff that you've sold and received payment for, why should anyone risk sending you a cent?

OK, I really just need to stick to eBay, CD Universe, Hiroshi Tanno, and Chuck Nessa. And if those go south, I'm fucked!

Anyone have trouble with orders from Jazz Loft?
peterintoronto replied to peterintoronto's topic in Miscellaneous Music
This will be the last post I will make on this subject. Alan apparently left off my apartment number on the package twice. In the 80 days it took for the package to arrive, I was accused by Alan of having actually received the package on numerous occasions, and was never apologized to. Forum members can make their own decisions about Alan, and whether or not to buy from him. Fortunately, there are enough reputable and honest vendors I deal with, who I'm certain would own up to their mistakes, if and when they happened. These are the people with whom I prefer to do business with, and will continue supporting. -

peterintoronto replied to peterintoronto's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Unreasonable demands? Yeah, shame on me for expecting a disc get from the U.S. to Canada in less than 80 days. You screwed up. How about an apology? Oh wait, you'd rather 'defend yourself'. -
Actually, I meant as a Keepnews issue. It was listed as one being done on the first post of this thread. "Keepnews Collection - September 16 ======================= Bill Evans - Sunday At The Village Vanguard Wynton Kelly - Kelly Blue"
-
Was Wynton Kelly's 'Kelly Blue' ever reissued? I cannot seem to find it on cduniverse or amazon.
-
That's the original CD issue, not a remaster. Would this fit the bill? It's one of those recent cardboard digipack releases from one or two years ago. http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6658322

Charley Patton Revenant box relatively cheap on eBay
peterintoronto replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Offering and Looking For...
Wow, was it a mistake in the listing price? I'm still happy with my $47 version, but you really did well! -
It seems to me that technological advances are only partly to blame for the death of music formats and retailers. It's also the music itself: it's hardly engrossing and memorable stuff. Bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, etc. created and maintained enormous merchandising trends. There were a ton of posters, books, figures, buttons and pins to buy of these classic acts. Not to mention the records - people didn't mind shelling out for 45s and LPs of these bands, because if you were a Beatles fan at 15, chances were you were still going to be a Beatles fan in five or ten years. Nowadays, the musical acts are so fleeting in popularity and legend, that the most a fan is willing to risk is $0.99 for a cellular ring-tone of their 'favourite artist'. At least they can delete it and replace it when the next flavor-of-the-month comes along. I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but I believe that in many ways, we are a civilization in decline.
-
It's probably my favorite avant-jazz reissue series. Getting all 15 of these took a lot of work though, as I only started buying them early this year!

Kasper Collin's film "My Name Is Albert Ayler"
peterintoronto replied to peterintoronto's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I bought myself the Revenant set of Christmas! 'moviemarz' is selling it for $47 (plus free shipping for you lucky U.S. folks), how could I not? I tried a search for this earlier, but came up empty. Thanks for the above links! -

Try the Jazz Loft. In a scant 80 days, you'll have a replacement!
