  1. Did I hear correctly on the radio something to the effect that Boston has lost 8 of 9 of its normal starters due to injuries? If so, !!!
  2. Are the Tigers starting Rogers in any of these games? I HOPE SO!!! Hope he gets his ass kicked, too!
  3. I don't have any of them, so I'm just curious as to which version is the preferred version. Or, at the very least, which one(s) to avoid like the plague.
  4. More 10" Blue Notes!!! I'd love to see a 2-disc Erroll Garner COMPLETE OVERTURE TO DAWN SESSIONS
  5. I'm sure there are other versions that sound better than all four of these, but I wanna see which one of this group sounds the best when compared to each other. Thanks!
  6. Thanks Peter!!!
  7. Like what? What all went wrong?
  8. BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!
  9. Well, his record was better than some of his other stats would suggest. Well, okay, but remember who I have to compare him to! I'd just about kill to have a pitcher who could have a year like this! On the Rangers staff, he could be a great long-reliever since most of our guys can't seem to get past the 5th either. And these are the veterans I'm talking about here!
  10. No kidding! Looks like this kid was having a heckuva rookie year. This is just heartbreaking:
  11. Dan and Heatwave should have their own radio show on ESPN Radio. Frankly, I'm surprised the suits at ESPN haven't come calling, as our guys are arguing about the two things closest to ESPN's hearts/pocketbooks: the Red Sox and the Yankees. It could be the baseball equivalent of the Hannity-Colmes show. People could call in and get abused on the air like any other talk show. Suggested titles: The Dan and Heatwave Show Red Sox-Yankees Smackdown The Only Teams That Anyone Should Care About The Best Damn Baseball Show Period Yankees Rule, Red Sox Suck Red Sox Rule, Yankees Suck This would be a 24-hour show, as we all know that once one side starts the other side has to respond, and neither side will let the other have the last word. Folks around here should help out behind the scenes, and I will gladly take the bold first step and be the producer and call-screener for the midnight-8 am shift, cuz I've had some serious insomnia lately, so I may as well do something productive. Who can we contact at ESPN?
  12. Ain't that somethin. Travis Hafner probably won't be close in MVP voting because he plays on an under-achieving team from a small market (not on a superstation), but he should finish in the photo, 'specially if Ortiz wins. Acquired from the Rangers (essentially) for pitcher Ryan Drese. Wonder who he's pitching for now? Seems like he had one bad game for the Rangers, and in a fit of "leadership" Jon Hart cut him loose. Business as usual around here..... Like Patrick said, nationals now. As for his record for Texas, just checked. His ERA was 6.85 , 4.20 and 6.46 his 3 seasons! So, Hart was right to cut him loose, stupid to trade Hafner for him! Naturally, after proving he was no good with the Rangers, he is still in baseball. You know, I look young for my age, I'm a lefty and I throw a good curveball...hmmm, if you guys don't see me post much next year, just keep your eyes out for a long haired southpaw with a 8.50 ERA....who will stick with the big club most of the year... Yep, my bad. I guess this means I have to admit that Hart was right about at least one thing during his tenure with the Rangers.

  14. Remember when that happened to Mitch Williams? Back in '89, I think. He just picked up the ball and threw the runner out at first. Like nothing had happened.
  15. I don't care if this was the gimme on the collection.... I still get to say I got one right!!!!
  16. On the one hand, it's a corner office with two windows, looking out over "beautiful" industrial Arlington (i.e. an old dilapidated shopping mall) and I can even see the Ballpark in Arlington from here (home to the dilapidated Texas Rangers). On the other hand, the can is right next to my office. If the smell doesn't kill ya, some of the sounds I have the "pleasure" to hear....... You get to a point where you can't look at people the same way again. What's really bad is when they get done unloading, some of them feel the need to come in and talk to me. Hey! You just got done taking a dump; don't come in and tell me how much better you feel now. Just had to vent.
  17. Chose the computer as the most transformative. Seems we wouldn't have the internet or the cel phones without the computer. As for most annoying, I chose the cel phone; or more specifically, people who always have one stuck in their ear no matter where they are: driving, grocery store, movie theater, their own house. Especially when they talk at insanely high volumes.
  18. Did you come here just to belittle people about baseball? As his "bitch" I'd like to say "it sure looks that way." Uh Dan, anytime someone disagree with you about anything regarding baseball, you immediately tear into a personal vendetta against them. You ripped MartyJazz a new one earlier in this thread because his predictions didn't jibe with your knowledge. You're constantly belittling JazzyPaul about his White Sox, for no other reason other than they had the nerve to win the World Series after they had offended the baseball gods way back when. You've belittled my Rangers and I've taken it all in stride because I know what a mediocre team they are. But God forbid anyone insult your beloved Red Sox, especially based on what you know. Heatwave hasn't been very nice to you, but I don't blame him. You weren't exactly welcoming to him when he first started posting here. Jeez, he says something negative about the Sox and you take it as a personal attack. Lighten up, fercryinoutloud! So what if it was baseless? SO FUCKING WHAT???? If the Red Sox are THAT important to you, you need to get a life. And I know I've raised your blood pressure by posting this which will no doubt cause you to refer to me as "dipshit," "asshole," etc etc etc. Be my guest. You've already called me (and the other baseball-loving posters on this thread) a "fucker," so, really, I don't care anymore. You're not the victim here, Dan, so quit acting like you can't understand why someone's pissing on your shoes after you've shit in his backyard.
  19. Thanks for posting that. My current deal is 67% off w/free shipping but only if you buy five discs. So far, I could only come up with three.
  20. How about a 2-fer of Tina Brooks' TRUE BLUE and Freddie Hubbard's OPEN SESAME. Same front line, and I think Sam Jones is on both dates, which were only a week apart.
  21. Am I the only one who enjoys his Riverside albums? (except It Could Happen to You; not a big fan of his vocals) I mean, I know there's better Chet out there, but there's something about these records that I really like.
  22. Hey, that's not fair: the Rangers front office is EONS worse than the Red Sox! They've worked hard and spent a lot of money to reach the staggering level of mediocrity they've "achieved" (if you can call what they've done to this team an "achievement").
  23. Oh, and yes, the fact that the prices are out the roof! may have something to do with it too. And I'm sure the overall quality of popular music has nothing to do with it whatsoever as well.....
  24. This reminds me of when the Rangers brought in Oil-Can Boyd towards the end of the '90 season for what turned out to be a disastrous run towards the playoffs. The guy was a cancer like nothing else the Rangers had ever seen.
