  1. Found this CD by Ned Otter called SO LITTLE TIME at the library and discovered Billy Higgins is playing on this. Man, he never slowed down, did he? You'd never know he was about to pass away shortly after this was recorded (RIP). Which got me to thinking: all the Higgins I have is mostly on Blue Notes from the 60's, various Morgan, Mobley, & McLean dates. If he was this good shortly before he died, he must've been just as fantastic in the intervening years, none of which I've heard. So, any discussion/recommendations will be heartily appreciated!
  2. Me too. Hey, you never know.....
  3. You found jazz SACDs at Borders???? Where is this Borders? I'd like to take a picture of it and show it to the Borders stores down here!
  4. Any month's a good month to talk about Hank!!!
  5. I dig San Fransisco Suite the most, even moreso than his wonderful Blue Note dates! Lovely playing there.
  6. And it just keeps getting better!!!
  7. GO ASTROS!!! Wouldn't it be something if last year's World Series loser made it to the playoffs, while last year's World Series champs didn't? At least there's a chance of a Texas team in the playoffs. Unlike a certain other unnamed team from Texas......
  8. Listening to the Hill clips as well. Wow..... such beauty... stark beauty.... probably gonna get this as well. Gotta find stuff to sell around here.....
  9. Cheery.
  10. I should think this discography would answer your question.
  11. Bot Bot - Paul Quinichette
  12. Pity they didn't use a picture of Boris Badenov on the cover.
  13. No kidding. Not only that, for the first time since the RVG program started, Borders hasn't gotten any of the last batch (Happenings, Demon's Dance, etc.)
  14. Any other Metroplexers know when any record conventions are coming to town? I suppose I could drive to Austin for that one, but I could've sworn there used to be one in Richardson. Any thoughts?
  15. That'd be a good one to use on the new Trane box!
  16. Yeah, I just looked at the post count itself. I didn't actually read the thing. If you wanna see how it sustains itself, just read the last page. Keep a barf bag handy, though.
  17. Over 1700 posts and still going strong. Unbelievable.
  18. That JC thread is still going?????
  19. I think JUDGEMENT is akin to listening to a John Coltrane album with Trane on vibes as opposed to tenor sax. It's that good! Probably my favorite Hill disc. And yes, GRASS ROOTS is so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!!!
  20. Agree totally, but also get DANCE WITH DEATH. For me, that one is his most accessible.
  21. Thanks Lon! I'm entered!
  22. Could I have a link to the discography, where to buy, all that stuff?
  23. All three of those Tony Williams clips convince me that I want to get this Select!
  24. Wow! That's quite a lineup! But..... no "Come Together"?????
