Well, the Rangers win one by the skin of their teeth. I don't care what happens to the Rangers this year: Showalter should be fired. Brings out Volquez who's pitching a 4-hit shutout, brings in Juoquin (sp?) Benoit who promptly gives up three runs, who gives way to Rick Bauer who promptly gives up a run. Then our "closer" puts two men on with two outs in the ninth, but gets the third out on a long fly. So, the Rangers put another W in the column, but the real story is that they scored only five runs but got twelve hits. They left NINE MEN ON!!!! Again, if there were any justice in baseball, the AL Worst wouldn't have any teams in the playoffs, so that more deserving teams could taste post-season play. Makes me sick!

Y'know, if the baseball gods knew any mercy, the East and Central divisions would send their top two teams to the playoffs, and the West wouldn't send anyone, simply because any team playing barely above .500 doesn't deserve any post-season play!

Yes I do Ah, the Big Daddy! My dad used to race against him when he was a professional drag-racer in the 60's & 70's. I think I even met him once when I was a kid. Boy, those were the days, before corporate sponsorship drove out all the ones who raced simply for love of racing. I've got a lot of fond memories of traveling to places like Bowling Green, KY; Baton Rouge, LA (got the worlds WORST sunburn there. My dad used to tell me we we're going to Baton Rouge to watch the tornados go by, which scared me to death!); Ontario, CA; and of course, Green Valley Raceway here in Fort Worth! I've never been to Pomona, but I'll bet Dad knows it like the back of his hand! Dad's now got a dragster and he occasionally hits the Old-Timers circuit. I guarantee you he is never happier than when he's sitting behind the wheel of an alcohol-injected monster tearing up the quarter-mile at about 200 mph. Pro Comp all the way, baby!!! Very, very cool Big Al Did your Dad ever race at the Winternationals in Pomona? I'm sure he did! I just don't recall ever going with him when I was a kid. This would've been early- to mid-70's. Did you go?

If the ONLY thing he did was Freddie Hubbard's STRAIGHT LIFE, that would be enough to qualify him as legendary. Truly one of the greats; I wish he would come down here to play!

Y'all ever get the feeling that no one in the MLB seems to be all that excited about winning anymore? Nobody's broken away from the pack; heck, even Detroit is starting to come apart. Doesn't anyone want to win anymore?
