  1. And it's not even May!
  2. Yup, that he did!
  3. CD Universe has clips for the 4/26 releases. The Krupa/Mulligan set sounds beautifully lush; that's one to get! The Cugat sounds like cheesy lounge muzak to these ears; probably skip that one.
  4. Wonder why these aren't listed on the Blue Note site?
  5. Gee, I thought I was going to sleep tonight..... Why do these people always have some sort of "ministry?" WHY??????
  6. And it sounds GREAT!!! You guys in the engineering dept. did a fantastic job of bringing this program to life! Thanks again!
  7. Listened to clips on Amazon yesterday. Quite impressive! Don't know if I would enjoy a whole album of it, but it's interesting and brave to say the least!
  8. Well, none of this stuff is on the aforementioned Retrospective, and I don't know how much of this is in print otherwise, so maybe these could be considered to be companion discs to the Retrospective. Sort of a Retrospective, Part 2. Who knows?
  9. Man, them sout’-siders are MERCILESS!
  10. See, that's where I disagree ... bad trades are part of the game. No one knew Ruth would revolutionize the game the way he did - and there are plenty of other cases of horrible trades. Now don't be bringing back any bad memories of how my devotion to the Rangers has always been rewarded with deals like...... oh, where do I start? Harold Baines, anyone? Anyway, that's cool, I see your point, but we'll have to agree to disagree. That is, until the White Sox eventually shake their curse! Or at the very least, the Cubbies shake theirs. Right JP?
  11. You mean the phrase "Cub fan, Bud man" has gone by the wayside?
  12. Yeah, well, that's what they said for 84 years until last season. Trading the Babe was as big a fuck-up of baseball karma because that owner, like Comiskey, should've known better than to mess with the game like that! It's always the idiots in management who screw it up for the players!
  13. Yeah, but weren't the Red Sox "cursed" all those years? (Granted, not by the same thing; but back then, I wonder which was seen as the bigger blasphemy: throwing a series, or trading the Babe? Not as easy to decide seventy-plus years down the road!) Seems to me that curses are meant to be overcome by a new generation of heroes! That's baseball, man!
  14. I’d certainly enjoy a Chicago team in the playoffs, if not the Series! Let’s hope 14-4 ain’t no fluke!
  15. I know! He's had more good starts this season than he's had in his entire tenure with the Rangers leading up to this season! And even though he's a Yank, my hat goes off to Randy Johnson (even tho' he clobbered us today... dirty @##%^$^$@&$@!*): he took time out to mentor to a young Ranger pitcher on Saturday. Apparently, they met and discussed mechanics, drills, workouts, etc. Very VERY cool in my book. I guess he figured that, since Nolan Ryan did the same for him when he was a struggling young pitcher, he wanted to pass along the wisdom learned. And Dan, yes it was SO sweet beating Kevin Brown the other night! Gotta love it!!!
  16. Don Martin Rowan and Martin Jim R
  17. So THAT'S what an "automat" is! I never knew what those were called!
  18. Yeah, but the REST of that album smokes!!!
  19. Elementary, my dear Watson Ellafitzgerald, my dear Wambole (from John Lennon's A Spaniard in the Works) Ella Fitzgerald
  20. This Rangers fan is LAUGHING HIS ASS OFF!!!!
  21. ...no kidding, what a week ! What he said!
  22. Thanks for sharing these, Dan. That "Hot House" lives up to its name! Pity these guys never made a record together, like "3 Sounds + 1" or something like that!
  23. Okay, cool! I thought it was a software issue on my end!
  24. What? You don't have Soul Station???? How good is this album? This is one of those album I use to define jazz to those who've never heard it. It's that good!!!
  25. Is anyone else having trouble getting connected? There's a big "out of commission" notice on the page, but I didn't know if that had always been there, or if it was put up there just this afternoon.
