  1. Some more love for Billy! Gotta love the cover of "This is..." cuz it is literally smokin', just like the music!
  2. Forty points!!!! Holy freakin' shizzit!!!! That's not a win, that's not an ass-whuppin', that's just plain-ol' gettin' the shit kicked outta ya!
  3. That's alright; I don't particularly get Mingus, either.....
  4. Kevin Brown was fearsome? When? Besides his off-the-field tirades, I mean....
  5. This oughta provoke some spirited discussion.
  6. You have to have a "preferred membership," which costs $25/year. It's worth it because in addition to saving 10% on anything you buy, but they're constantly sending me e-mails to take an additional 10-15% off anything in the store. The only downside, at least around here, is their CD collection ain't worth much. But it adds up over the year!
  7. Wow! Wish that cover had been on the Fantasy two-fer! B-)
  8. Yup! Them's on the Fantasy two-fer Latino, which I've been spinning today! Love those Cano big band charts!
  9. D’oh!!! A day late!!! Making up for it by spinning, at random, Los Ritmos Calientes, Black Orchid, Latino, and Soul Bird (Whiffenpoof)! Thanks for the great music, Senor Tjader!
  10. Wanted to find a combined vote: they got too old too fast, but f*ck 'em anyway! (not a big fan of the Sox either, but Steinbrenner doesn't own them. Anymore!)
  11. Alright, I'm listening to Coast to Coast again, and I stand by my original assessment. I'll happily agree to disagree with you guys on this one; it just does nothing for me.
  12. Dennis kicks us ALL, even those of us just watching, in the ass!!!! Hope yer daughter gets to feelin' better. My headache's all gone, but my wife has had this crud for two weeks now! So, does this mean you guys are NOT playing next Wednesday? And then, not again until the 18th? I mean, I'll try and get out there next week regardless; but I'll be bummed if you guys don't play again until the 18th, as I won't be in town that night to catch it!
  13. Hey!!! There's that missing disc-one from my Herbie Hancock MWANDISHI set I thought I'd lost! Anyone got a rocket I can borrow to get out there and get it?
  14. Wow! I'd like to meet him. Where's he buried?
  15. SWEET!!!
  16. I sure apologize for my absence last night; I had a roaring sinus headache that prevented me from driving. The bad thing is, QO’s music would’ve been the perfect antidote for the pain; driving there would’ve killed me before I got there, though! But I’ll DEFINITELY be there next Wednesday. I gots to; I’ll be out-of-town the following Wednesday!
  17. Harry Potter Harry Caray Harry Edison
  18. What do you think I am, a bleating-heart liberal or something?
  19. I've owned a couple of Springsteen records in the past; but none of them ever stuck with me, despite some grand moments. This thing is being so hyped up, I just wonder if it's really as good as all the reviewers say it is. I've never heard Tom Joad or Rising; maybe I should one of these days. Thanks for the input, folks!
  20. Amen to that, and everything that's come before! However, since she has a degree in film and loves to laugh, I suggest you get her the Marx Bros. Paramount box! B-) I'm sure you'll.... er, I mean SHE'LL enjoy it immensely!

Mike, with all due respect, doens't the fact that Wonder couldn't SEE what he was doing/playing make it that much more significant in terms of what Wonder accomplished?

What I can’t figure out is how someone can listen to Talking Book and Innervisions, two of the most brilliant and brilliantly-conceived albums of any time and any genre; realize that most if not all instruments were played by one person, that person being BLIND, btw; realize that the same performer also wrote all of the aforementioned songs he played on; and STILL not consider that to be “genius!” Hell, by any standards of ANY time, that would still be tough for someone with full sight to accomplish!
  23. Yeah, this is where it differed from the past: the library played the DVD of the movie thru a projector, as opposed to an actual film. So it looked and sounded better than anything from '35 (or even '75 for that matter!).
  24. Anyone heard it and can offer an opinion? B&N has a 50%-off special, and I'm thinking of getting it. The audio clips are okay, and for that price, what the heck? But if it's gonna be a dog to play, then maybe it isn't worth it anyway.
