Lyles West was playin' with the Marchel Ivery Quartet. They announced the bass player and I said, "Hey! I've seen that guy! He rocks!"
-
Slow day, eh? B-) I can't help but wonder if the joke is on all of the other respondents over there!

Got mine yesterday as well. Thanks Tom!

Ban for life? Come on; it’s not like he’s Pete Rose or Darryl Strawberry or anyone like that. Exile to Expos? Nah; NOBODY deserves that kind of punishment. Suspended for the rest of the season? You bet. He may be a good kid and a good pitcher, but this is fuckin’ serious. God only knows how much he’s gonna have to shell out in damages for this. I’m just worried that it’s gonna cost the Rangers organization as well, in terms of potential litigation.

No doubt about it, I gotta get a new hat!

I'm glad to hear he's still playing!!! I've only heard one track from his latest album, but it sounded pretty good! I love his classic hard bop stuff (especially Finger Poppin' and Blowin' the Blues Away), but I think I can honestly say that my favorite Horace album is In Search of the 27th Man. It's the one I go back to on a regular basis. The beauty of the tracks with the vibes is something I wish he'd pursued more often. Then, of course, there's those fiery tracks with the Brecker Bros. OOWWW!!!! Long live Horace indeed!

With that lineup, the fifth would be in the bottle, not the player!
-
Indeed. Haven't seen that much to float my boat recently though I am interested in the Joao Gilberto. Indeed indeed!!!

I saw this at the library today and checked it out, never havin heard anything besides "For What It's Worth." I gotta say, the charm eludes me. Anything I'm missing, or something I should listen for? Not a knock, mind you; just curious!
-
Did I mention I didn't miss you?!?!? Seriously, I think I smell a new rivalry brewin' around here! But to keep things consistent and so I don't accidentally jinx my boys, the Rangers are notoriously horrible on the road and they're about to face one of their biggest obstacles. I don't hold out much hope. (Why should Goodspeak have all the space?) Just kidding, of course! Revenge will be ours!!! GO RANGERS!!!!

fingers in her ears singing loudly "LA LA LA LA LA LA LA" I will not think of this song all day today.... I guess we're even? (Wish we had a smilie with a white flag?) white flag smilie? Heck no... I'm already planning my revenge I think we should just gang up on JohnJ!!! Oh yeah, and another thing: "Dancing Queen" by Abba. HA! :rsmile:

Agree with everything said before. To echo what Jim said, you can hear a Shorter solo and know it's him from his sound. There's certainly no shortage of Shorter greatness; my favorite is Speak No Evil. This album is justifiably popular, deserving of all the hype that gets poured on it. Great hummable (or whistle-able melodies), incredible solos, and a killer rhythm section. "Dance Cadaverous" moves me like few others do; the only one that comes close is "Little One" and "Dolphin Dance" from Maiden Voyage. But THE highlight is that first note breathed on "Infant Eyes." How the hell does he DO that?!?!? Ethereal doesn't begin to describe it.

was nothing compared to the UM/FSU finish!!! B-) You got THAT right!!! That one kept me on the edge of my seat, too!!! -
Rangers sweep the Jays and hopefully the momentum carries them through the next few weeks as they face the A's & Angels. I was all set to write 'em off after they lost 3 of 4 to the ChiSox, but now..... things have gotten interesting again! This is gonna be a stomach-churning week! GO RANGERS!!!

Ah well, who'm I to talk? I like Art Garfunkel's wet-noodle version of "I Only Have Eyes for You."

ewwww! Eeeeww!!! EEEWWWWW!!!!!!!! I hated that song the FIRST time it came out, and I've always hated No Doubt!!! And now I have that song stuck in my head!!! AAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

After reading the title to the thread, I figured it might've been about the GA Tech/Clemson game tonight. Whatta finish!!!! -
If my son is watching, I'll usually join him when he's watching Yu-Gi-Oh. The concept is ludicrous, the marketing blatant, the voice-acting so over-the-top, it's one of those so-bad-it's-good. We went to see the movie with the plan that he would watch and I would sleep (Hey, five bucks for a 90-minute uninterupted nap is worth every penny). Trouble is, I got into the spirit of a child seeing his favorite TV show on the big screen, and actually watched the first half-hour before sleep kicked in. It's hard not to laugh at this stuff! We now play Uno Attack, Yu-Gi-Oh style. "I summon my blue-7 card of DOOM, which forces you to push the Infinite Button of Torment and MISS YOUR TURRRRRRN!!!!" Much fun!

I don't know what y'all are doing with your Saturday, but I hope it's a good one and you guys got plenty of rest and are enjoying your day. Me? It's 3:00 am and I can't get to sleep!!!! Man, I'm gonna be a zombie tomorrow (which won't bother me if y'all don't notice any difference)! Happy weekend!

You got that right! Anyhow, Karen was a pretty good drummer! Nice voice, too! I blame Richard!

HELLYEAH!!!! And I am a rabid Monkees fan, too! Every now and then, I'll go a couple of weeks where all I listen to is Monkee music! Heck, I even think their movie (HEAD) is the greatest rock&roll movie ever made, and is in my personal top five favorite movies! I'm also a sucker for the Ventures. Especially their work from the 70's when they were no longer popular. Man, talk about some cheesy stuff, but it works for me. Did you know they did an album of Carpenters covers? Betcha didn't give a rats ass, either, I'll betcha. But I looooove it!

Inspired by deus62 admitting how much he loves Frampton Comes Alive, as well as Jazzmoose's confession to liking Simon & Garfunkel, what skeletons are in your closet? Here's mine: Foreigner's Double Vision. I know it's cheesy as hell, but it was one of the first rock records I ever bought, and if I didn't associate it so much with a great childhood, I'd probably hate it like everyone else! How about you?

You know it, Moose. I was in my office, and remember going numb when they announced that the first tower had fallen. The rest of the day was a blur. I found out then that our office manager's birthday was that day. When I got home, my son (who was five at the time) came in after a day of much playing. And I just looked at him. In his world, everyone plays, gets along, and is happy. And yet, what do you tell a five-year-old whose whole world hasn't turned upside down like everyone else's had? I just held him and told him how much I loved him. Finally, I remember listening to a Christian talk station. I don't remember much of what was said, except for one comment made by the host. It was something to the effect of, "I hope things don't go back to the way they were before 9/11. I hope that this unity that we see right now doesn't disappear, and everyone goes back to being divided." Or something like that. That was my wish, too. Still is. I don't see it happening anymore.
