  1. As a Christian, I want to tell you that you are absolutely right! And you won’t. This, I believe, is what makes Jesus all the more necessary: to actually be the living reconciliation. If that doesn’t make sense to you, take heart: I’m still trying to figure it out myself. But I believe it, and that gives me comfort that I don’t have to worry about trying to reconcile it myself, because I obviously can’t. (Not so much because the Bible sez I can’t, but just because I’ve realized that, by my own power, I am unable to reconcile it. IOW, if you were to ask me about it, I’d look you square in the eye and say, “You’re right. It does say that, and I cannot explain why it says that.”) For that matter, following what Jim was saying, look at the fact that all four Gospels present differing perspectives of the Crucifixion. It’s like having four witnesses to an auto accident: just TRY and get the same exact story from all four people. But they’ll all agree on one thing: it DID happen. In the end, this is why my faith remains unshaken by these contradictions: the fact that Christ came as a living reconciliation, as if to say, “Don’t be troubled or confused by what you read. Read with your heart. Let me worry about resolving these differences. Believe that I can and will resolve these contradictions, and you will live in peace.” (The fact that various extremists take a lot of these contradictions (or at least one side of them) and then shout from the mountaintop as if they were the Messiah, and the resulting war and tensions from such shouting, just goes to show how little we who call ourselves Christians really have learned. Jesus was right: we really are like sheep!)
  2. I saw it on eBay. The winner divvied it up, remastered it to SACD, and sold it to Dusty Groove (the bastards!).
  3. Actually, the above ad looks like a CTI ad for Freddie Hubbard's (at the time) latest LP!
  4. Seriously, though, I wear my dream outfit on a daily basis: t-shirt, shorts, & flops*. And if I really wanna offend someone, I’ll wear black socks with those flops. *”Flops” is a catch-all term I use for sandals of all type: Birks, flip-flops, etc.
  5. This doesn't have anything to do with that new poster over at AAJ, does it?
  6. Yeah Marcus! This was a great collection! Lotsa good stuff to investigate, particularly the Buddy Montgomery disc and that Jacques Lossier disc. Very nice stuff.
  7. Mine's here! Thanks Dan!
  8. Hey, I'm with you Tjazz. Does anyone know which code may be used to take advantage of this offer? Thanks! Wish I knew! If anyone knows how to find the appropriate code for one's monthly special, please let me know and I'll find it on mine!
  9. "Spanish Key" with that killer groove that just won't quit!
  10. I also have an original LP; belonged to my Dad. He gave it to me when I started listening to jazz. In fact, it is THE record that introduced me to jazz. Never picked up the current CD issue, cuz Dad’s old LP sounded pretty good, and the CD of FFA put me off getting MOSAIC on CD.
  11. REMAIN IN LIGHT, FEAR OF MUSIC and MORE SONGS ABOUT BUILDINGS AND FOOD--and definitely this Rhino re-issue of THE NAME OF THIS BAND... You'd probably also like SPEAKING IN TONGUES. I retain a bit of a soft spot for LITTLE CREATURES as well. What Ghost said!!! If you can wait, I'm pretty sure their catalog is getting the upgrade, and if the recent box is any indication, they'll sound FANTASTIC!!!!
  12. YES!!! "Found a Job" is on it!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!! Come onnnnn, TUESDAY!!!
  13. No kidding! Those drivers are !!!
  14. Geez, I'm surprised I didn't respond the first time around. This is a fantastic album from my favorite lineup of Messengers. I agree with Soul Stream: Fuller is the secret weapon here, adding another hue to an already colorful palette. I can't wait to get FREE FOR ALL and BUHAINA'S DELIGHT, and wish they would upgrade MOSAIC, as that's my favorite album from this lineup!
  15. Happy Birthday and spin LOTS of Big John today!!!
  16. Every now & then, I’ll put on a CD at work that’ll allow me to ride the groove all day. A good example of this is some of the Mobley 50’s stuff w/Sonny Clark. Some days, a groove like that will make the day go by that much quicker. Probably my most preferred way of listening is to listen thru headphones while taking a walk or riding my bike. That way, I can hear all the nuances & details of the music. At home, the only way I can listen uninterrupted is if I have the house to myself, which isn’t often. But every so often, I’ll get that chance, and put something on that I can hear throughout the house. I can’t just sit still and listen. I gotta be doin’ something!
  17. That's why I enjoy driving: it's really the only time I can listen without distraction. I mean, it's not the greatest system in the world, but it does the trick!
  18. Any details about this show you can pass along? THAT would be worth the 3-hour drive down there!
  19. Man, some of you guys spent more on Mosaics than I spent on my first house! Peter, a PM has been sent re: the Dex box.
  20. Did catesta ever receive his?
  21. As the lone voter in the "one" category, I can tell that I am such an amateur. B-)
  22. Up! I've sent 2 PM's & 1 e-mail, still haven't heard from him. Does anyone know what happened to him? I don't want to have to file a claim thru PayPal, but.......
  23. Yer the best, my friend! I can only hope my BFT is even half as good & listenable as yours! Cheers!
  24. I believe that's a Blue Note title, bro!
  25. How do you get the CCR box for $38? Is that before postage costs? Right now, my offer is "Unlimited $5.99 w/FREE SHIPPING on all purchases over $30!" The box is something like $35.99 already, so all that was tacked on was sales tax! Bummer about Rockin' the Boat.
