  1. In case it helps, here's what I have for track timings: 1. 2:31 2. 5:14 3. 3:52 4. 8:00 5. 5:50 6. 7:02 7. 4:27 8. 5:12 9. 3:18 10. 2:46 11. 3:02 12. 3:10 13. 2:45 14. 5:52 15. 3:32 16. 6:57 17. 5:10
  2. Hmm... this is confusing. I just attempted a download, and each track had a box to check (for which ones you wanted to download). At the bottom of the listings, there was a "select all" option, so I chose that. Unfortunately, only about five tracks downloaded. I unchecked their individual boxes, and tried again. This time four tracks downloaded. I unchecked those boxes and continued this process until all tracks were downloaded. When I went to move them from my desktop into iTunes, I noticed that tracks 6-17 had tags for name, artist, and album title (the artist and album title were all the same, so I assumed that these were not the real tags for the BFT tracks). Most confusing, though, is that tracks 1-5 were labeled as follows: 1. BFT117-001 2. BFT117-001 3. BFT117-002 4. BFT117-005 5. BFT117-004 I realize that I could ignore this and proceed listening, but it kind of worries me (that the tracks got mixed up somehow). I was careful in entering the files into iTunes individually in the order they were labeled (001 through 017), so... Maybe you could list the correct track timings, 1 through 17, just to help clarify what's what...?

  9. Interesting comment. You may already know this, but his first LP (or one of the first) was called "A Tribute To Art Tatum". I posted here some years ago that Martin's solo playing gets to be somewhat "rote" in terms of style and approach, but yes, he's a monster. The duet recording he did with Louis Stewart is something of a classic in jazz guitar circles.

  11. The Raney album is nice, but he overdubbed solos over his own rhythm tracks, as I recall.

  19. I'm not a professional player, but I'll play anyway... 1. Probably around 1977 (age 21), when I heard Kenny Burrell on "Jimmy Smith At The Organ". 2. No, I had taken blues guitar playing pretty seriously for several years prior to that, which of course was a nice way to prepare to play jazz. I had a bit of guidance from one of my older brothers (guitarist, later guitarist/trombonist), but I'm basically self taught, and I'm an ear player. I must have gotten a gene from my Mom, who mostly always played by ear. I struggled to get up to speed when I first picked up a guitar in the early 70's, but my strong desire to play allowed me to persevere. I needed to make music.
  20. Jimmy Raney April Showers (All Hail) The King
