I’ve dabbled with Zorn for a while. I recently got Alef and I’m now interested in getting the rest of the titles by the original group. So I’m wondering if anyone is interested in selling small lots or individual titles. I know they’re all on Discogs, but I thought that I’d float it here. Thanks in advance. Paul Desmond/Ed Bickert Mosaic - NOW AVAILABLE

Perhaps this is a delayed result of Costanza's hard work on the Penske file... -

Paul Desmond/Ed Bickert Mosaic - NOW AVAILABLE

I too ordered as soon as I saw the email on 4/30. My credit card was charged on 5/3. Mosaic claims that cards will not be charged until an item is ready to ship. I have yet to receive a shipping confirmation. I paid extra for UPS and I have a UPS account which alerts me of scheduled deliveries. So even if I missed the shipping notification email which came from an odd email address, UPS would be keeping me in the loop. So at this point I got nothing, although I remain hopeful, even quietly confident that Mosaic will come through. -

I didn't use Paypal but I have this feeling that I was charged before my item was ready to ship. I trust Mosaic so no real worries, just anticipation. -

"Thank you for ordering from Mosaic Records. Please note that Media Mail shipping does take extra time. Your Credit card will not be billed until your order is ready to ship." I ordered on April 30th and my card was charged on 5/3, but no shipping notice/confirmation as of yet. I don't mind being patient, but I did spring for the UPS delivery. Ten days or more is a lot of time to process and ship an order. Oh well. -

Agreed. I had a shipment from one New York address to another wend its way through Tennessee, Mississippi, and Massachusetts before finally making here 11 days later. 97 miles separated shipping location from my house. I literally could have walked there and back sooner. I consider it two dollars well spent. Yes. I was pleasantly surprised today and ordered immediately as well. -

Lee Morgan 60s Mosaic set
greggery peccary replied to greggery peccary's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I think that there is something to be said for "The Mosaic Treatment." I have all of the individual CDs but I'll still be inclined to get the Mosaic set. What can i say? -
From today’s Mosaic newsletter: Hank Mobley and Lee Morgan: A Duo Made in Blue Note Heaven The team of Lee Morgan and Hank Mobley was made in Blue Note heaven. Kindred spirits with contrasting personalities, they made an amazing amount of gorgeous, soulful music together in the ‘50s and ‘60s. David Brent Johnson has seen fit to celebrate their partnerships on his Night Lights program. Interestingly, a number of his musical choices were tracks left unissued until after their deaths, which Mosaic Records is revisiting with our set The Complete Hank Mobley Blue Note Sessions 1963-1970. Everything and anything they did together is of value and merit. And a ‘60s Morgan Mosaic set should follow next year! -Michael Cuscuna

I've only played three of these shows (Winterland/The GD Movie/Dead Ahead). The others are untouched and mint. The box is in excellent shape. Booklet is crisp...briefly looked at never read. I'll listen to the Dead all day...the videos tend to leave me flat. $200 includes shipping/insurance/delivery confirmation to CONUS. Paypal preferred please. Thanks

The 80-20 principle of listening to jazz albums
greggery peccary replied to Robert Middleton's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I had my iPod classic for Jazz expanded to 768 GB. I've filled it with all of my usual suspects as well as assorted other things that I was once enamored with or curious about. Shuffling by song, album, and artist has helped me to curate a collection (playlist) of tunes that I enjoy coming back to. I import as ALAC files, so I'm happy with the fidelity, the portability, and the options for listening. 18,000 tunes spanning 470 GB. Then again I have many times that over in CDs to also visit and revisit. A good problem to have. So 80/20 seems reasonable but I'm working on changing that up. As FZ said, "Without deviation from the norm progress is not possible." -

I like the Apple Iphone 7 and 8. i had the Plus version of both models. They are the last two generations to have the home button. I'm not ready to live without it. I went for the 256 GB of memory which allows me to carry around one of my iTunes libraries so that I always have music for my car or with me- since I always have my phone. This is my fourth iPhone and we have many in the family. We've never had an issue with reliability. Quite the opposite actually. Never had a problem. And your iPhone is six years old. I've heard that future models may bring back the home button while in other places I've seen that the home button is gone for good. I expect to get another 4-5 years out of this phone.

PM went on Change of Time. I really like Adam Kolker. I’m not previously aware of this record, but John Hebert’s stuff tends to be mighty tasty too. 👍

I've been considering it. They were $50 last year so they've recently gone up. Since I'm not much of a download person, preferring physical product, I didn't see the benefit for me. I signed up for their mailing list finally too. I've shopped there before but somehow didn't get on the list. Now I'll be informed and it will cost me even more money. Good thing I'm single.

I would expect, and hope, that the new Music App will end up being iTunes for the next generation. Or maybe Apple will allow those who use and rely on iTunes the opportunity to continue with it on that platform. I have no videos, photos, podcasts, etc. on my iPods so a stand alone music app/program would be fine for me. It seems to me like reports of iTunes demise though are somewhat overstated. Apple has sold a lot of people and awful lot of music through the years. I can't imagine that they would take away ability for people to access and play that music. I know that those of us who use iPods are lower on their list of priorities, but I also have a lot of music on my 256 GB iPhone. I suppose you could call it the end of an era, but a new era surely awaits.

I sprung for most everything except the Keberle...I listened to the samples and the vocals weren't really something that drew me to his music. But to each his own.
