  1. Autumn/winter definitely brings out the ECM in me
  2. Graham Collier - British Conversations [My Only Desire, 2021] That's a great album. All the better for having been haggled over too I found my copy in an Oxfam about 5 years ago. Not cheap, market price but that's fine when paying to a charity.
  3. This is beginning to nudge Braxtonian proportions.
  4. I'm not sure how this fits in, if at all (others will know) but Gilles P played a great track by the German band Embryo last week. Sounded a fusion of jazz and krautrock to my uneducated ears. From the 70s, so maybe inheritors of some of the same influences.
  5. Tum just keep delivering new WLS. Great news although I've hardly absorbed the last two boxes
  6. preceded by Been a while since ECM released titles that grabbed me like these two. Also, the recent Taborn
  7. Oh no, that is sad. I treasure his music, which I only discovered with the initial reissues from SOTU, and wish I knew more about his other artistic endeavours. The reissue programme was a labour of love I think for SOTU and I hope it successfully spread the word so many more appreciate his work.
  8. Robin Cook Norman Cook Nigella Lawson
  9. Okyerema Asante - Drum Message
  10. "Soul Jazzmen" at The Ambassadors (1965) Unknown female vocalist (possibly Vuyiswa Ngcwangu), Dennis Mpale (trumpet), Nik Moyake (sax), Duku Makasi (sax), Shakes Mgudlwa (piano), Psych Big T Ntsele (bass), Peter Jackson Jnr. (drums)
  11. I agree, the McKenna is wrong on so many levels but I still think 'Push Push' deserves a place in the rogues gallery
  12. Today's arrival Sun Ra Quartet featuring John Gilmore - Other Voices, Other Blues [Horo, Italy 1978]
  13. Yet another opportunity not to post THAT Herbie Mann cover
  14. This was a very educative and oddly moving listen, thank you. Began to fill the Elmo Hope sized hole in my knowledge which I shall continue to address
  15. The Lee Morgan Complete Lighthouse was a complete revelation having never got on with the 3CD version. I bought the LP and really enjoy the accessibilty of the LP length sides Recent wider investigations of South African Jazz courtesy of Matsuli Music, prompted by @Rabshakeh James Moody's catalogue - thank you again @HutchFan Nate Wooley - 'Mutual Aid Music' great in and of itself but also sent me back to more in depth listening of his back catalogue Improvised music released from Argentinian label Nendo Dango Records The music of flautist Claire Chase Apartment House's recording of John Cage's Number Pieces (possibly my favourite release of the year alongside the Morgan) And finally, the releases of Tom Challenger, Rachel Musson, Alexander Hawkins and Olie Brice, together and with others showing that British improvisation is very safe in their hands
