That's a shame. Both of my codes from this series have worked perfectly so not anticipating any issues with this one Does anyone know which titles are due next? I have only seen listings up to 'Dejeuner...' -

I have spotted that a number of tracks fade bout which seems odd given the size of the boxset. Heavens alone knows how many discs would have been required to hold all the concerts in their entirety. Also, the start of some of the tracks seem very abrupt, presumably because they've cut the audience appreciation of the previous tune. All of which may be a product of AB's decision not to present the music as played on each night but to cut/paste from different nights and venues. None of the above detracts in any significant way for me from what is a tremendous release overall. -
Pre-ordered this. Solo lockdown recording.

Jackie McLean - Let Freedom Ring [Blue Note, 1963, NY Stereo] The first Jackie Mac I heard, still way up there for me

First listen to this, it sounds good to me. I don't follow Metheny religiously but dip into his catalogue occasionally and I'm invariably surprised by how much I enjoy the visits.

Xhosa Cole Quartet - Know Them Know Us [Stoney Lane Records, 2021]

the Bley Steeplechases are a great run of recordings

Eremite, sound label. Look forward to them realising the plans whenever

I never listened to nearly as much of his music as I suspect I should have. 'Revolt...' was highly rated in the Penguin Guide I think but impossible to find by the time I realised i should do. Maybe the reissue will allow me to remedy that.

Roscoe Mitchell - More Cutouts [Cecma, Italy, 1981] I always want there to be a companion to this, titled 'Cutouts'

Forever grateful for the local public library LP selection (I even ended up managing it later). Allowed me to dip and dive amongst a wide variety of names, most often chosen on how "cool" the player on the front cover looked. All in an attempt to find the music that was behind Tom Waits on his pre- Rain Dogs days. Ben Webster was an early hit. Then it was Berendt's book and following names on sessions. 'A Love Supreme' and 'Kind of Blue' hit the target on first listen. Then it was Mole Jazz, Mingus, Blue Note DMM reissues, Steve Coleman, David Murray, Anthony Braxton and continued borrowing from the library.

Eric Kloss - In The Land Of The Giants [Prestige, 1973 RP] Eric Kloss - Love And All That Jazz [Prestige, 1966 mono] One of my favourite covers. I prefer Kloss's organ recordings. Listening inspired by BFT 210

Participating's the fun part, you did all the hard work! I have the Kloss!! Klezmer not tango, hmm... Guy Klucevsek maybe? With Mark Feldman Tracks 9 & 14 are really bugging me now

prompted by BFT 210. Higgins and Dyani, that's serious.

I would but shipping to the UK and import duty would hike it way beyond that unfortunately. That price in the UK and I'd think about it. I was told by a very reputable UK retailer that no copies of the LP box were distributed here. That's borne out by the fact that Amazon has been the only source I've seen fulfil orders - presumably they shipped US to UK themselves. -
Track 9. This is fabulous. Again, like Angles 9 I'm thinking contemporary. Something like Michael Zerang's recent recordings or more like Maurice Louca's 'Elephantine'. Who is playing that clarinet solo and who's the oud player? I'm thinking one of them as the leader. I need to own this and if I do already well I'm more unwell than I thought . Sensational track, worth the entry fee alone! Please don't let this be a £££ 70's obscurity. Track 10. Tapscott or at least the Nimbus West orbit. Trying to think of mid-sized Tapscott sessions. Is it the recent Miranda? I haven't bought that yet, I really should. Another track right up there. Track 11. John Blake on Gramavision? It's a very long time since I heard those albums but this has a Gramavison feel to it and I'm struggling to match any other violinists that I know to it. But now I'm hearing some late Bang from around about those Vietnam albums but not convincingly as I don't think of BB sessions with piano. Very nice if a touch florid in places. Track 12. Well the easy guess would be Piazzolla. I only have 'Tango:Hora Zero' and haven't listened to that for ages but it has a similar line up I think but then so do many Tango recordings I guess. Track 13. I'm hopeless at identifying horn players and if I say this is all a bit too rapid-fire for me I'll inevitably have insulted a board fave or even someone who I have recordings by. Just a bit frenetic for how I'm feeling today perhaps. Track 14. A really good one to finish with. I know I should know this and probably should be able to pull it off my shelves. Shepp/Rudd are my first instinct. Overall this was a great listen, thanks @Pim I'll be definitely following up on Track 9, the Bonner, Track 10 and maybe the Angles 9 when I discover I don't have that album of theirs. I'll be very interested to see who Tracks 4 & 5 feature. I will kick myself about Track 14. So now I'm going to read back through the thread so cue the embarrassment and "oh no!" when I see who's identified as who. I bet felser's had a field day if he's already commented.

It would be a hell of a surprise if it was. Companies move on, adapt to survive. I don't really see the issue of having a limited 1st pressing and then having the issue to repress if demand is there. I'd buy a second pressing as I missed out first time round. I'm less keen on the price increase which seems a touch exploitative but with flipped copies online at £450 the $350 begins to look OK at just under $30 an LP. -
Roy Ayers - Virgo Vibes [Atlantic, 1967 mono] been after a nice copy of this for a while, arrived this morning. Can't help but think that if this had been released on BN it would be much more well known. What a line-up.
