  1. Grant Green - His Majesty King Funk [Verve UK, 1965 mono] dare I say, majestic!
  2. Tweedledee Tweedledum Boris Johnson
  3. Thanks again for posting this. A thoroughly stimulating listen that will encourage me to listen to more of Chico's later albums from Soul Note and Koch Me too!
  4. wanted this for a while so pleased to find it at a reasonable enough price
  5. I thought that was really good. There's a new Binker&Moses from Gearbox due soon. I've liked all their previous releases. oddly, I just couldn't get on with Binker's leader date on Gearbox.
  6. That's great, thank you so much. I look forward to listening to it tomorrow
  7. Will this be available to stream after broadcast too?
  8. Ron Jefferson - Love Lifted Me [Pacific Jazz, 1962, mono]
  9. Long time ago, not in the last 20 years. Always seemed to let his undoubted facility get in the way to my ears. I guess I should try again
  10. So where does Mingus fit in as he connects to a few of these names?
  11. George Adams, sometimes?
  12. And a highlight of the set it is
  13. That's a shame. Both of my codes from this series have worked perfectly so not anticipating any issues with this one Does anyone know which titles are due next? I have only seen listings up to 'Dejeuner...'
  14. thanks for the reminder, order submitted
  15. I have spotted that a number of tracks fade bout which seems odd given the size of the boxset. Heavens alone knows how many discs would have been required to hold all the concerts in their entirety. Also, the start of some of the tracks seem very abrupt, presumably because they've cut the audience appreciation of the previous tune. All of which may be a product of AB's decision not to present the music as played on each night but to cut/paste from different nights and venues. None of the above detracts in any significant way for me from what is a tremendous release overall.
  16. Pre-ordered this. Solo lockdown recording.
  17. Jackie McLean - Let Freedom Ring [Blue Note, 1963, NY Stereo] The first Jackie Mac I heard, still way up there for me
  18. Paddington Yogi Antigonus [<---- Exit]
  19. First listen to this, it sounds good to me. I don't follow Metheny religiously but dip into his catalogue occasionally and I'm invariably surprised by how much I enjoy the visits.
  20. Xhosa Cole Quartet - Know Them Know Us [Stoney Lane Records, 2021]
  21. the Bley Steeplechases are a great run of recordings
  22. Eremite, sound label. Look forward to them realising the plans whenever
  23. I never listened to nearly as much of his music as I suspect I should have. 'Revolt...' was highly rated in the Penguin Guide I think but impossible to find by the time I realised i should do. Maybe the reissue will allow me to remedy that.
