  3. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Felser is a man of great taste. And as someone who has had the pleasure of buying LPs from him previously I can assure anyone wondering that he also looks after his LPs. Happy buying folks!
  4. Listening now. Yes, dated it certainly is. Ouch! on some tracks I think most of the trumpet still works in that post-Miles, Nordic cool way (although Henriksen has always been better and more original at that to my ears) and I like Aarset's guitar treatments It's the rhythm parts that really let it down in places especially when they pick the tempos up, when they "rock out" or use dance rhythms. In that way it is the crossovers that fail. It's interesting to compare my reaction to this to recently listening to Miles's 'Live At Vienne' which didn't sound dated as much as of its time and I thought was mostly a very good listen. It was the template for a lot of what Molvaer is doing 6 years later. And I do remember how fresh and interesting it all sounded last century, even without the dreads...thanks @Rabshakeh for taking me back to a great gig but also for making me feel old
  5. Loved that when it came out. Saw him perform it at the Jazz Cafe I think. Haven't listened to it in 15 years at least
  6. They did the same about ten years ago and followed it with Prestige designs. Snaffled a couple. I like the 'Unit structures' from this run
  7. Even better if you were there...
  8. How about on the same day. Possibly my top two. Do your dreams ever come true?
  9. If ever an album deserved a good reissue, there you have it. One day, hopefully
  10. Early 90s for me and I know exactly what you mean hence the very occasional not-meatballs and spaghetti 🍝 (emoji added only because I had no idea one such exists!). In my carnivore days I used to love cooking clams and linguine, would have loved your Mum's recipe I'm sure Big fan of chickpeas and cashews here too. Broad beans instead of endame only because I love them so much.
  11. Honest Jon's still have the LP and at £65 at the most reasonable price I have seen but my streaming listens have promoted a purchase yet
  12. I'm a longstanding vegetarian who doesn't really deal in meat substitutes (except for the very occasional 'meatball'). I can honestly say I don't miss the taste of meat one iota so don't really bother. Gorgonzola and artichoke for my pizza today, if I were having one. More seriously, it's good that meat substitute exists and is gaining some traction. This poor planet needs s lot less meat eaten that's for sure.
  13. Roy Brooks - Understanding
  14. Listened on Tidal, good stuff
  15. I haven't enjoyed a thread as much as this for ages, in no small part due to Big Beat Steve's entertaining erudition but also due other contributors, notably Niko and TTK, too. Thanks everyone and thanks to Rabshakeh for the idea. Keep it coming!
  16. That's a terrific album. Great band.
  17. I have only ever 'copy image' from Discogs mostly and just paste. I do come across your problem if I ever try paste a photo from my gallery
  18. Equally looking forward to this as I agree with you about his other ECMs
  19. Thumbs up for Doldinger. Rolf Kuhn is someone I've often thought I should investigate further
  20. Very early and in no way definitive. They certainly don't reflect our government's reckless 'freedoom day' rhetoric or reality. The effects of the opening up on community infection rates won't be measurable yet. Look again in a couple of weeks. I want to be hopeful but I don't feel it. I know of enough double vaxed people who have caught it in this new wave. Thankfully so far without deaths but with some serious illness. The country's daily death rate is rising again and hospitals are beginning to feel the pinch once more. I'm continuing to wear a mask and that's as a glasses wearer. The way I see it is that mask wearing only works as a mutual protection so the more people see others without them they won't bother. If everyone continues then a protection level can be achieved as a critical mass wear masks. I'm on a train now doing a journey I have done regularly through the pandemic. Mask wearing, which is still required on public transport, is markedly down from about 90% to 65%. Not good as I see it
  21. Nonetheless, I echo the thanks for your post. Very interesting, thanks for taking the time to post it
