  1. Prescribed on the NHS, I trust I saw Sanborn in a ridiculously rammed Town&Country Club God alone knows when, he was supported by The Brand New Heavies and I suspect at least half the crowd were there for them. Great gig. 'Hideaway' was one of my very earliest 'Jazz' purchases prompted by his work on 'Young Americans'
  2. Masahiko Togashi - Spiritual Nature [East Wind, 1975] I love it when I remember to play this album, it's so good. Great recording too. Another LP purchase prompted by this board a few years ago. Edit to add: I'm really surprised this hasn't been picked up and fetishised by the 'Spiritual Jazz' mavens. It's got all the constituent parts. BBE, Mr Bongo or similar would cash in on this, I'm sure.
  3. You're on a roll today
  4. Salah ad-Din Monty Don Dirty Den
  5. Whoa, didn't see the drums coming at all. Where's this from? OK, found it on bandcamp. interesting
  6. Then I'd have to buy them again! Looking at Discogs, the Interdisc European issue of 'Free Form' that sidewinder has has never been sold. Jazzland was a US company so I'm assuming they licensed it for European release. As for 'Abstract', the UK Columbia Lansdowne Series seems to have been more available. So did Columbia spot the potential in the reaction to 'Free Form' to jump onto 'Abstract' for the Lansdowne Series.
  7. Just bought a copy from the US of the US pressing. The dangers/delights of talking about LPs!
  8. Funnily enough, I was a librarian for 20 years... Copies of 'free Form' have been predominantly in US since I've been tracking it. Copies tend to be VG, hardly party music! Prices creeping up for a nice copy but isn't that the case across the LP board at the moment. Edit to add: just pulled the trigger on a mono Jazzland
  9. Well if you don't listen to your 'Free Form' LP...
  10. It is. Got bored waiting for a UK one. Now listening to the Redial CD of 'Free Form' and the 'Abstract' LP sounds so much fuller and less bright. How's the 'Free Form' LP sound (assuming you have it, you do don't you?)?
  11. It is. Just need its partner now!
  12. Joe Harriott Quintet - Abstract [Capitol, 1963] Sounds great on LP
  13. Joe Roooooooot Stephen Twigg Jaimie Branch
  14. That's a terrific band. I'm interested to hear anything with Yamamoto involved
  15. Inspired by this thread, this is really hitting the spot Jazz In Polish Cinema, Out Of The Underground 1958-1967. 4CDs. Also streamable on Tidal
  16. Jazz In Polish Cinema, Out Of The Underground 1958-1967. CD1 of 4 First listen to this very well presented set. Purchase inspired by the European Modernism thread Double Yes!!!
  17. Well that really is enlightened and brave too. On 'Yi Yole' now
  18. What an enlightened family This one with Tchicai
  19. Rick Deckard Johnny Diamond Sam Spade
  20. I was a bit underwhelmed by that and have filed it. Maybe I should revisit. I love their one with Tchicai
  21. Cunning plan saving the toilets. Always good to have some room for expansion. I've yet to move into the basement. Too damp.
  22. My 'man cave' is my entire flat. One advantage of living alone. The collection sprawls through most of the rooms which isn't difficult in a small London flat. My partner, a regular visitor of course, can't abide Jazz so the non-Jazz section and Spotify gets well-used too
  23. I assumed it's just the covers up there?
