  1. It is. Nice little record shop indeed Just done the same That teaches me to be a cheapskate and choose 2nd class postage. It will be good to have a mobile copy.
  2. You got that sharpish. Mine's in the post from Presto so they claim anyway. Does it have a download code? I've read mention of in some listings Nice haul, three crackers. Where did you find them?
  3. Nice start to a sunny Saturday
  4. Only occasionally. There seems a trend amongst some of the younger UK based jazz musicians to add a vocal track or two that sound like a bid for a wider, R&B/Nu Soul/Rap audience (I understand the motive and have no problem with it). Sometimes they just jar a bit with the rest of the album. It's never a deal-breaker most often just a bit of a disappointment. Mind you, as I type this I can't think of an example... Turning the thread on its head, I love the vocal track on Jackie McLean's 'Bout Soul as a fine example of when it works well for me.
  5. Watching the dreadful news from Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium and hoping that all forum members and their families and friends are OK

  17. This one comes to mind. It's been on my 'to read' list for ages https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/M/bo25125876.html and maybe also George Lewis touches on it in this https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/P/bo5504497.html I'm sure others here will have read them and comment accordingly
  18. Kind of. I thought it was good in parts but it all seemed a bit too "suited" in that 80s style, a bit trussed up and constrained. I will listen again though

Just watched the documentary, I'd seen it before but was well worth a second viewing. thanks for posting the link. Coincidentally today would have been his 85th birthday

Go straight for the Silkhearts, uniformly tremendous
  22. I need to relisten then too. I remember being underwhelmed at the time it was released. I had seen a storming gig of theirs at Ronnies so maybe the album suffered in comparison. Today's been a Yusef Lateef and Paul Horn day here Mono, 1966 Stereo 1964 not the 1957 issue sadly but 1985 Mono, 1978 compilation Mono, 1960 Beware the Jazz bagpipes... and currently maybe some Brotzmann next...
  23. Have either of you managed to fit the LPs into the sleeve? Nine's too tight to accommodate them. Definition of a first world problem, I realise.
