  4. That's a very good album indeed. I was lucky enough to see the trio live about that time too
  5. Ruweh, interesting label with some very good releases
  6. It's coming home again! good performance by all accounts. Counter attack in the first half and defend for your lives in the second...
  7. The Sea Ensemble - We Move Together [ESP]
  8. Thanks. Book and deluxe DN will be tracked down
  9. Definitely and also the stuff with Rudolph
  10. Yeah, me too. Can't imagine it was official and I don't know the label, 'Seeds'. Just 300 made of it according to Discogs
  11. Jeanne Lee - Conspiracy [Earthforms Records] desert island.
  12. I keep meaning to read that book. How is it? I agree with you about those earlier albums and 'Daydream Nation' in particular, and I like 'Dirty' too. I bailed out at 'NYC Ghosts and Flowers' but habit had kept me on board since 'Washing Machine' really. I saw them play 'Daydream Nation' as a celebration of an anniversary so I'm now thinking that must have been the 20th - yikes! Thurston Moore's a London resident now but I've not seen him play since a very unimpressive display with some leading Improv musicians a few years ago. I should give him another chance, he's quite regularly at Cafe Oto
  13. It's great. If you enjoyed the previous trio album on Intakt you'll do the same with this one always interested in a new Sommer recording. One day I'll see him live, I hope
  14. Willem Breuker - Baal Brecht Breuker [Bhvaast] and yes, it does come in a hessian bag. Featuring the ever marvellous Han Bennink's credit for "tapedance" which I take to be a mistranslation rather than anything more exotic.
  15. That's a shame. KonstruKt are a fine band live and on record, although many of the albums I have by them don't have him playing (maybe due to his illness). I do have the Holiday reissue of the trio LP so will spin that in his memory a little later
  16. Larry Young - Contrasts [Blue Note]
  17. John Graas - Jazz Lab 2 [Decca]
  18. Thirded. Never understood all the fuss about EC
  19. postman just dropped this off, sounding very nice indeed John Coltrane Quartet - Plays [His Masters Voice/EMI, mono]
  20. Very good indeed. It sits on the continuum of his studio albums (I thought the live album a bit of a misstep). The strings a bit more foregrounded than on "Savior" but the sound's basically the same, plenty of trumpet. The rapper's on two or so tracks, the spoken word elements are a running thread, but not overly used, in the same way that AA's employed them on previous albums. If you've enjoyed the three previous studio albums then I think you'll feel the same about this one
  21. story is here I think, not read it but headlines suggest so https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/oct/10/i-believed-love-could-cure-cancer-how-grief-sent-steve-perry-on-a-new-journey
