  1. Anteloper - Kudu [International Anthem] always open to hearing some more Jaimie Branch
  2. I saw this LP over the weekend. I was intrigued but not enough to buy it unheard (too much of a hurry to give it a listen) Anyone know anything about the record or band? Only release listed on Discogs. Scant references online but one track on YouTube does sound interesting. The personnel mean nothing to me but that's probably a reflection more of my ignorance than their profiles Alto Saxophone – Rahim Roach Bass – Chris Amberger Drums – Smiley Winters Piano – Robin Young (3) Soprano Saxophone – Dale Reamer Tenor Saxophone, Soprano Saxophone – Bert Wilson, Mike Breen Trombone – Patrick O'Hara* Trumpet – Peter Montalbano Vibraphone [Vibes], Arranged By, Conductor – Dave Wilson (11) Vocals – Carol Wilson
  3. Chico Hamilton - Man from Two Worlds [Impulse]
  4. Thanks, will act accordingly
  5. Beautiful, thanks for posting. 'Always'
  6. I'd like to hear Peregrinations one day. Discogs prices were quite high when I looked not so long ago. Nothing silly but a bit too much for a punt on Chico of an era I'm unsure about. Would love to hear what you make of it. Edit to add:just found it on YouTube
  7. Would this be a good intro to the band for someone who knows nothing about the band but the enthusiasm shown for them on this board?
  8. ICP - Groupcomposing [ICP Records]
  9. An enjoyable listen, thanks. There's a far amount of Bernstein programmed at this year's Proms so it was nice to have a Jazz context. I'm intrigued by his sitting in with Ornette.
  10. I'd absolutely second this recommendation. My favourite recent EP album, as Ubu says, beautifully recorded
  11. Poschiavo is very good. Not aware of the other release/remaster, thanks for the alert
  12. today's review piqued my interest too but not got around to listening to it yet. Your impressions?
  13. Yes, sorry mjzee. I'll see whether I can edit it so you're not misrepresented by my post. Those are JSngry's words. That was my error for taking the quote from your quote of JSngry
  14. Good to hear one of the greatest artists of twentieth century died to a timetable of which you approve, just culturally of course. Heaven forbid he should have lived longer and disappointed you... edit to add: above quote is actually of JSngry's text not mjzee. Apologies for error using quote function
  15. Open Sky - Spirit in The Sky [PM] Frank Tusa - Father Time [Enja]
  16. Me too, now. Good listen
  17. just announced an Oto date in November. I'll be there, life willing
  18. Finally, after a couple of years, got my hands on a copy of that recently only to discover it was scratched so back to the seller it went. At least I got to listen to it and know that it's well worth hunting for again
  19. The only copy I've ever seen looked in very good condition and was tucked under Evan Parker's arm. Whilst he played the gig he left it lying unattended on the Vortex piano. I spent some time wondering if I could cause a sufficient distraction...
  20. Both the McNair and Karyobin would have the pink Island labels not the palm tree I'm guessing.
  21. Booker Little - Victory and Sorrow [Bethlehem] no U Roy influences apparent on this one...
  22. New York Art Quartet - Call It Art [Triple Point] LP1. Starts with 'Banging On The White House Door' which seems somewhat apt this week Me neither. I don't ever recall seeing a Jazz LP on Island before. Maybe they released lots and they've passed me by This label means reggae, and some other genres, to me but not Jazz
