Mira Schendel at Tate Modern. Revelatory. Tate Modern's on a good run of shows of artists the have had less exposure in UK at the moment. Saloua Raouda Choucair and Ibrahim El-Salahi were both very enjoyable. A nice balance to the blockbusters, currently Klee -

I've not seen much mention of The Necks on the board anywhere but certainly think their latest release "Open" is very strong.

Nicely sums up what I'm enjoying about it, thanks Colinmce for allowing me to be lazy. More Noriega would be grand but overall a very strong release indeed.

I'm a fan of her abrasive style but still went through a saturation period myself recently - the danger of over-recording/exposure perhaps? That's hardly her fault as I'm the one choosing to listen to it all in the end.... I find her playing on the recent Septet date is less abrasive and therefore you may enjoy it more. Certainly the date as a whole comes across to me as focussing more on melody and the arrangements for the enlarged horn presence

I'm curious, where did you manage to buy this cd? I see 3 on the For Tune website I'd like to get. Thanks, c I've purchased directly from the label with success. Also, this Polish store is quick and efficent (at least within Europe) http://www.multikulti.com/

Glad to hear that. I have it. Haven't played it yet. Moved it to the top of the pile. I couldn't agree more with Stefan's comments. A truly wonderful album that impacts head and heart. Best of the year for me so far

Not presuming to read David's mind but I shared his thought and was thinking of these two boxes http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mysteries-Impulse-1975-76-Keith-Jarrett/dp/B000003N8H http://www.vervemusicgroup.com/keithjarrett/releases/detail?id=9472 both of which I sold on and therefore wonder why I'm attracted by the new one.......ho hum

Matana Roberts - Coin Coin Chapter Two; Mississippi Moonchile a truly spellbinding listen

Nice line up as long as Escreet leaves his fusion hat at home - which with that line up I suspect he had to Escreet was very good live and nothing that even sniffed of fusion that's good to hear. I really rated his 'Consequences' but "The age we live in' left me completely cold and I've avoided him since. Sorey I rate big time (although I tend to agree with CraigP about 'Oblique 1') especially since seeing him live with Lehman. I envy you your opportunity to witness his new quartet and thanks for the review.

purchased thanks to a mention in another thread.

Williams and Zimpel together on Jackson. Intriguing

I've often wondered about that one. How does it stack up against other Bluietts? Fine but not earth-shattering. I agree. It's more of a Melis and Moye show, than a Bluiett date. A bit eccentric at times, but interesting enough not to add to the for sale pile. Thanks guys. the copy I'd been looking at has been sold anyway. No major loss by the sounds of it

Discogs/Ebay/CDandLP and some shops for second hand vinyl Cds - At gigs from artists; Squidco (love 'em) but less so since postage hike (not their fault); direct from labels in UK/Europe, less so from US (postage again); Amazon/Ebay tends to be last resort or laziness Only ever paid for two downloads and I don't discount that as an option in the future, space saving primarily but also cost saving

I blinked and I missed it again! Emanem site states it's not available until "about October 9", see post above. Other retailers are unlikely to stock it before the source! Patience may well reward...it's worth the wait

from Emanem site "psi 06.05 EVAN PARKER "The Topography of the Lungs" (1970) Available again about October 9"

I enjoyed Nova Express from the same group, have wishlisted this one but i'm not too enthused about pulling the trigger for whatever reason. I did pull the trigger on Dreamachines and very good it is too. It's knottier than Nova Express but still has its melodic moments. A fine band

??? indeed....this could be very very interesting

to my ears a stylistic precursor to the Matana Roberts above
