I very nearly bought a copy of that yesterday and didn't. Did I make a mistake?

Listening to Lennox AB right now and hoping that Mr Blythe is able to find comfort and respite at home. Thanks for highlighting the donation possibilty. Maybe folk could donate what they would pay for that "wish list" Mosaic? Blue Train - just wondering whether it might be worth considering changing the Thread title to highlight the donation possibility. Many may not look if they think it's a show they're unable to attend geographically. just a thought

I think that whole cohort of Anthony Davis, James Newton, Jay Hoggard, et al, may deserve more attention than they have received. Newton's first, Flute Music, on his own Flute Music Productions label, is very nice. Didn't know of that one. Looks interesting line-up and instrumentation. $50 means it'll have to be very interesting though I'm not sure of the going rate for this LP (the Anthony Davis one-- or did you mean the Newton? Don't know about that one) , I think it's usually found cheaper. I picked up my own copy in Philly for $1.00 in a bargain bin, probably because the spine of the LP jacket was scuffed (vinyl quite fine). I'm a big fan of Delbecq and have enjoyed a lot of Blaser so this trio looks like a winner

I need to check out more of his stuff. Any one in particular? I was listening to 'Hera' on Multikulti when I posted. More recent 'Stone Fog' is good too, slightly more restrained

Waclaw Zimpel is another player of bass clarinet that always makes me sit up and listen closely

I've had the Mitchell for a couple of days and I'm thoroughly enjoying it however it's almost designed for me as flute/vibes is a line up that would be close to the top of my list and Mitchell and Adasiewicz top of each instrumnets' 'must hear' players. There's some strong writing on the album and the playing's as good as you'd expect. I doubt you'll be disappointed I was blown away by Nicole Mitchell's performance on Harris Eisenstadt's Golden State album and made a mental note to check her music out further but kind of forgot about it. Stumbled across this album and just about couldn't think of a more perfect line up. I imagine you mean either the Live disc mentioned above by A lark ascending or the Songs & Themes album. I will give them a try. I imagine I will like them. It is I thought so. But I can imagine the duo from Spring Heel Jack crossing over into jazz territory easier than Jason Pierce from Spacemen 3. Anyway, he's always been really out, out. I think I remember a very cool trio a few years back with J Spaceman, Steve Noble on drums and Matthew Shipp on Farfisa... I played a few times at their Red Rose nights - 'Back in Your Town', they were called...some fun gigs for sure! Isn't that Shipp farfisa/Spaceman a recording somewhere? A dim memory suggests so 'Back in Your Town' was always an interesting and fun evening from the audience too

Coxon/Wales made a pot of money remixing Everything But The Girl then took that left turn. Wales used to progamme a weekly night at the lamented Red Rose Club that was always worth checking out - a marvellous free jazz "concerto" for Paul Rutherford was a highlight. I think all the Blue Series albums are worth a listen. There's one, 'Live' with Matthew Shipp, Han Bennink, William Parker and Evan Parker that is a recording of a date on a tour of which I attended a fantastic London gig. Coxon and Wales are/were behind the Treader label. Wales seems not to be about on the London scene any more but Coxon is about playing with the likes of Wadada Leo Smith last year edit to say I've just spotted Live amongst the covers in OP

Another fan of Jason Stein here, particularly that Delmark and the solo album on Leo. Not a Dolphy clone but a player with things to say on the instrument

The Necks were indeed astounding on the third night at Oto. As Williams recounts the second set was the most "thunderous" I've heard them live or recorded. There was an audible "ooh" of anticipation from the crowd when the recording with EP was announced. It promises to be a fascinating meeting just a shame they didn't bring him along to Oto to perform live. They really are a unique trio and I look forward to seeing them on their usually annual apperances here too
