  1. Similarly but without the rucksack and country.... Have the previous night's been very busy?
  2. Glad to hear it's been good so far. I'm hoping to be there tonight so let's hope the run of form continues
  3. I agree about Rogue Art prices but with the recent rise in postage costs, seemingly worldwide, they are now more competitive with their postage inc. pricing. Until the recent postage hike it was actually cheaper for me to buy them from the US and re-import them to Europe - crazy really What I'd give to live within touching distance of Squidco - always get great service from them and a terrific selection. Thinking again, I'm not sure I could afford to live in touching distance of them. Listening now to a very impressive release on RA - Josh Abrams quartet 'Unknown known'
  4. More Mazurek, this time on Rogur Art and with Roscoe Mitchell http://web.roguart.com/shop/album/id/73 one disc appears to be his electronic compositions. Exploding Star orchestra on the other
  5. James Newton - Toil and Resolution [Cobalt] before that..... Joseph Jarman - Sunbound [AECO records] and before that.... Joachim Badenhorst - The jungle he told me [smeraldina Rima] a morning of solo performances
  6. Same here! and here! I'm with Colinmce on 'Modernistic'. great album
  7. Wow. Terrific intersection of talent. What else do you know about this release, Colin? some info here http://www.intaktrec.ch/217-a.htm
  8. Ericle of Dolphi - Parker, Rutherford, Holland, Lovens [Po Torch]
  9. thanks Blue Train
  10. anyone heard this one yet? I'm tempted by the line up but unsure/intrigued by the use of ipods by each musician.
  11. there must be an "Album cover featuring" thread that can accomodate that corker of a cover.
  12. A great day of English cricket. Broad like a dose of salts. I was likewise nervous at tea. warner was batting so well and Clarke still to come.....

A great shame but completely understandable in the circumstances. Never purchased a poor album from Psi, some have challenged me but only one has defeated me.
  16. I wish I lived in a city where you could walk into a store and find a mono Fusion, very nice. I have jokingly told the owner of this particular store that, whenever I got the sudden urge to have a particular obscure album, I can walk into his store and there's a 90% chance he'll have it. Even so, I was kind of shocked to find Fusion on the shelves. can I send you a Wants list? I have a trashed mono and a mint-ish stereo and the mono seems to have more depth and heft to the sound. Lovely LP

  18. The Just Music LP was released privately and rereleased by ECM as #1002. I knew there'd be one other somewhere
  19. Steve, Have enjoyed much of your enthusiasm over the years, yet your descriptions of musicians and some of the comparisons made are like weight lifting or drag racing competitions. "she isn't the best musician in the trio" is a bit over the top and a bit silly really. especially as when I enjoyed the trio live I certainly perceived a band based on sharing and understanding not competition
  20. Glad to see Dawn of Midi releasing a new disc on a relatively high profile label in Thirsty Ear. Their first "First" was a lot more musically imaginative than the title. opportunity to hear here http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2013/07/30/listen-to-dawn-of-midis-new-album-dysnomia-premiere/
  21. a gratuitous Jazz reference for today - Stan Getz's 'Sweet Rain'
  22. Yes, someone. I thoroughly enjoyed "Super sad true love story" and on the evidence of that one I'll read others. i found him a very acute writer pinpointing some of society's pricklier questions but as you say with great humour. I read him as a very American writer, I'm not sure why just a tranatlantic distanced view I suppose.
  23. Didn't know about that Dwight Andrews. Line up intrigues
  24. That's a shame. I'll always have fond memories of listening to 'Naturally' as a teenager. He had something that was very him and no one else managed to reproduce
