  1. I was just recently was him reminiscing the ECM albums he made. Some fascinating stories there:
  2. Recorded at Cracker-Jap Studio, Brooklyn. Heh. I've got many Kikuchi albums but this one I'm going to pass.
  3. Some jazz artists do that too, facepaints and costumes, Art Ensemble Of Chicago, etc. Nothing wrong with some good old showmanship. Music-wise, have no opinion on the group called Kiss.
  4. Those photos posted on previous post state: format: NTSC / DVD5, Region: 0 (No Region.)
  5. I haven't heard much from Elvis Costello, but the album he did with Bill Frisell in 1999, The Sweetest Punch, is excellent.
  6. The Montreal Concert album is good. Sax / guitar duos with Gary Bartz.
  7. From Peter Eskine twitter: https://x.com/petererskine/status/1791844676749963278
  8. I agree, but as there's exception to every rule, there was a brief moment in history where Attila Zoller dabbled in jazz-rock. Check out Wolfgang Dauner Et Cetera performance at Altena: https://www.discogs.com/release/9043491-Various-International-New-Jazz-Meeting-Burg-Altena-1972-1973
  9. Some interesting recommendations here. Few more spring to mind: Jorge Amado - Guia Das Ruas E Dos Mistérios Da Cidade Do Salvador Da Bahia (with Egberto Gismonti's Academia de Danças) Michael Mantler - Hapless Child (with Robert Wyatt, Carla Bley, Terje Rypdal, Steve Swallow & Jack DeJohnette)
  10. Pondered the spoken word albums, in jazz genre. Any recommendations. Some I enjoy: The Heinrich Heine album with Attila Zoller Quartet which was mentioned in German jazz topic recently. Masaomi Kondo with music by The Freedom Unity group: Skokubuchu-shi: Hitoribotchi no heya (植物誌 ひとりぼっちの部屋) https://www.discogs.com/release/6899411-近藤正臣-植物誌-ひとりぼっちの部屋 Jan Erik Wold with Jan Garbarek etc. several albums which are compiled here https://www.discogs.com/release/2609874-Jan-Erik-Vold-Vokal-The-Complete-Recordings-1966-1977
  11. His quintet with Bob Berg, Joey Baron, Dave Kikoski and Dieter Ilg was good. These albums document it well.
  12. Attila Zoller made some good albums in Germany with German musicians. I like this one in particular: https://www.discogs.com/release/911862-Heinrich-Heine-Attila-Zoller-Lyrik-Und-Jazz
  13. And now this footage has seen official release: https://www.discogs.com/release/29245333-Jack-Bruce-Smiles-And-Grins-Broadcast-Sessions-1970-2001

    Jim Beard

I see people reporting Jim Beard has passed away. Is it true? Peter Erskine tweeted this today: https://twitter.com/petererskine/status/1765432614176096261
