  1. ecm during the earlier seventies was using some bad vinyl, in my opinion. they were the worst to warp and softest grooves i have seen in 50 years. the european pressings seem to be excellent. great sound/bad vinyl.

  8. she was a magnificent tennis player. i prefer to think the best of her and wish her future happiness and health.
  9. i awoke wednesday morning, with an uncharacteristic thought. "dying is like being born anew." "what is the reason for this," i thought. "am i about to die?" upon returning home a few hours later, there was a note on my machine that a very close friend of 30+ years had passed away during the night. i am not at all into the psychic or religious thing, but this happened to me.
  10. do i recall seeing nancy wilson in a ripple poster on the wall of my favorite wino establishment in the early 60's. wish i could find it.

  18. baseball songs Did You See Jackie Robinson Hit That Ball? by Woodrow Buddy Johnson & Count Basie (1949) Did You See Jackie Robinson Hit That Ball? Did you see Jackie Robinson hit that ball? It went zoomin cross the left field wall. Yeah boy, yes, yes. Jackie hit that ball. And when he swung his bat, the crowd went wild, because he knocked that ball a solid mile. Yeah boy, yes, yes. Jackie hit that ball. Satchel Paige is mellow, so is Campanella, Newcombe and Doby, too. But it's a natural fact, when Jackie comes to bat, the other team is through. Did you see Jackie Robinson hit that ball? Did he hit it? Yeah, and that ain't all. He stole home. Yes, yes, Jackie's real gone. Did you see Jackie Robinson hit that ball? Did he hit it? Yeah, and that ain't all. He stole home. Yes, yes, Jackie's real gone. Jackie's is a real gone guy. Did You See Jackie Robinson Hit That Ball? http://www.baseballrelated.com/music.html

  21. my mary lou recording(Chiaroscuro LP (CR 103) in 1971) is included in the mary lou 2 disc set(cuts 1 through 11). that vinyl had a black cover with her picture.
  22. i would hope there is a more practical method than commonly used today. mandatory cremation possibly? Cremation is not good for the environment. because of the smoke ingredients? I'd imagine it depends on who's getting cremated. If it's a donald trump there's a polution factor, if, say a ralph nader, not so much. very good!
  23. On the other hand, with the notable exception of the Pats and Colts, it occurred to me recently that the NFC is quietly fielding some strong teams--and likely stronger teams than their AFC counterparts (aside from the above-mentioned two.) NY Giants, Dallas, Green Bay are arguably better than Pittsburgh, San Diego and Jacksonville. Well, I did say arguably. They appear to be equal to them anyway. The NFC East is the best division in football. by far. agreed.
  24. i have for years owned a solo mary lou williams vinyl from late 60's or early 70's, one of the most beautiful recordings i own. not sure if it is yet available.
