  1. bought the original new a few decades ago. i rarely play it. its just a tad retro to my ears.
  2. Finally a post that relates to this thread You have to remember that odds only represent what betting people think of the outcome of the game. In any case, they may be champs, they may be undefeated but they're facing a special team that has a better history overall and that has played better football than the champs so far this year. And with all the hoopla regarding the stolen signals scandal it seems that they are pissed off and they don't mind acting like it, unfortunately for the rest of the league their opponent are paying for it. This team seems to have embraced the concept of me against the world. i dont necessarily disagree with the odds, but it is an interesting situation.
  3. pretty pretty lady, too.
  4. I think Kobe would be a disaster for Chicago under the current coach. So unless they decide to dump Skiles, and I see no reason to think they would, going after Kobe would be a bad move. Hard to say if Kobe and Dirk could co-exist, but maybe. Dirk has proven that he is a very good player, but he isn't "the man" and doesn't seem to have much interest in being "the man," whereas that is very much what Kobe is about. wouldnt it be interesting if the kobe and the zenmeister reunite on the bulls? it appears le bulls may be trying to revisit the glory days.
  5. do you have any more early copies of the new cd? with palmetto's great sound and your taste and musicianship, it's a must-have.
  6. i would hope there is a more practical method than commonly used today. mandatory cremation possibly? Cremation is not good for the environment. because of the smoke ingredients?
  7. i find it interesting and most unusual that an undefeated reigning superbowl champion, playing a home game, is an underdog.
  8. a second incident: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...%3Doff%26sa%3DG
  9. i think my intakt london jazz composers orchestra cd's, including shipping from switzerland, were $25 to $30, well above my $14 limit, and worth every penny. that AEC 'live in japan' (approximate title), is one i would pay well for, if i had to.
  10. Tuesday, October 30, 2007 No citations issued to Iowa man, dog after accidental shooting Associated Press DES MOINES, Iowa -- A hunter is recovering after he was shot in the leg at close range by his dog, who stepped on his shotgun and tripped the trigger, an official said Tuesday. James Harris, 37, of Tama, was hit in the calf Saturday, the opening day of pheasant season, said Alan Foster, a spokesman with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. "He had surgery and is doing pretty well," he said. "He took between 100-120 pellets in about a 4-inch circle to his calf." Harris was listed in good condition Tuesday, officials at University Hospitals in Iowa City said. Harris was hunting with a group about three miles north of Grinnell. The group shot a bird, and when Harris went to get it, he put his gun on the ground and crossed a fence. As he crossed the fence, his hunting dog stepped on the gun, Foster said. The gun was about 3 feet away from his leg. "The muzzle velocity is so great that the pellets don't have a chance to spread out," he said. No one else was hurt, and the dog was not injured. Foster said no citations have been issued.

  14. Half woman, half Theremin. On the other hand, Benny Carter was a big fan and hired her to sing with his big band. But then, now that I think about it, and though Carter is one of my favorites, there were times when his vibrato and Olay's were somewhat similiar. i think you may be right.
  15. True, you see some real oldies, B-49, at some of these air shows; and damned if I want to go up in an old biplane, e.g. Anyhow, not to hijack the thread, but when defense money talk comes around somebody usually points out how "old" the B-52s are, e.g., never mind that they are adequate for doing the job, their life expectancy greatly exceeds autos; got to have latest, it means jobs and votes...MONEY. with the current and expected costs of energy, less efficient equipment would appear to be a great problem.

  17. thank you. i have a dozen or so of her vinyls and they are all wonderful. do you have her string album with sinatra conducting the orchestra? magic to my ears.
  18. rethas 'yeah' is a studio 'live' album. wonder if the original tapes are messed up, too?
  19. Try a Google search for "slide trumpet" or "valve trombone." Check also for "firebird trumpet" and "superbone" I've never heard of a "trumpbone" isnt the slide trumpet a strumpet?
  20. not too many years wasnt it made in 2000? Yes, but strangely enough, that's just a hair less than a quarter of my life (yikes!) ... As I understand it - and this may be total bullshit - a wedge was driven into the original lineup when Zorn replaced Tchicai on some gigs, and that another reunion is unlikely. doesnt tchicai visit the states occasionally?
  21. not too many years wasnt it made in 2000?
  22. has there been a thread here? this 35th reunion quartet recording is outstanding.
  23. LPs? yes. soak in warm water, ivory dish detergent, a soft soft cloth, a gentle rub or 10, and discwasher fluid and brush to clean the residue after the rinse.
  24. i had about 30 recordings mildewed beyond hope, no idea what they are. i worked with one for 15 minutes and made it playable. betcar and ray together and in rare form! guess i'll bring them all back, one a day.
