Caleb Wheeler Curtis 36 minutes ago I've just heard from a reputable source that Mulgrew is still recovering in the hospital. "There have been some small positive signs but it's day-to-day." Please continue to keep him and his family in your thoughts and be careful about what you post. i would consider small's a reputable source, but we can maintain hope. ------------------------ Gerry S Gibbs: OK OK LISTEN UP !!!! MULGREW MILLER IS NOT GONE...HE IS ALIVE AND STILL IN INTENSIVE CARE...HE HAS NOT PASSED.....I JUST CONTACTED HIS MAIN NURSE AND HE IS NOT GONE !!!!!!! HE IS ALIVE !!!! Like · Reply · 3 ·

Wednesday and Thursday Smalls will be hosting the Brooklyn Underground Jazz Festival. We generally do this every year and the program is a good mixture of bands from this organization. We'll be presenting three bands a night. On Wednesday is Owen Howard's band "Drum Lore", followed by vocalist Tammy Scheffer's sextet and then closing with Rob Garcia and his excellent group. On Thursday is Dave Smith's band followed by Dave Cook and his trio and then closing out the night with Adam Kolker and his excellent group. This is a lot of music packed into two nights. One cover gets you all the shows (per night) - so come on out and support Brooklyn in Greenwich Village. -
relief pitching has become a deriious concern for indians. chris perez left yesterday with a painful shoulder and 8th inning stalwart vinnie pestano is obviously still hurt.

a successful friend judges music, and presumably art, like things in the refrigerator. if it's 2 weeks old, get rid of it. -

http://sitrep.globalsecurity.org/articles/130521902-bean-pounding-j-everett-dutsch.htm "Over the course of the last few years, J. Everett Dutschke was a man of many interests and hobbies: Karate instructor, Mensa member, someone fighting for local political office, insurance salesman and well before allegedly pounding castor beans into a crude powder, an electric guitarist and singer trying to make it with his band, Robodrum. Dutschke recorded no less than four separate CDs, all of them sold on the world wide web and promoted around the country. But Dutschke was not the only American accused of bioterrorism with a career, or intense hobby, in music. That history goes back farther -- to the start of the war on terror. American bioterrorists are few in number. But they are a very modern phenomenon. And the most famous bioterrorist of all, Frederick, Maryland's anthrax mailer, the research scientist Bruce Ivins, was also a recording musician."

i never considered the 'satisfy concert promoters, goers, and record company.' angle. every famous serious artist has to deal with that. thx. -

i saw him conduct the cleveland orchestra long after he left as principal conductor and he seemed bored, mechanical, and disinterested, conducting mainly debussy and bartok, -
http://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/beauty-in-the-strangest-places/Content?oid=898018 "By Lee Sandlin Pierre Boulez is the best orchestra conductor alive. He's also the most cold-blooded. His rep hasn't changed for decades: he's the ultraintellectual modernist, the disdainer of imprecision and emotional sloppiness, the unyielding advocate of all music harsh, obscure, and avant-garde. It's true that now and then you do hear people claim he's softening--lately some friends of mine have been telling me that his recent performances show him widening his range and even finding things to like in the Romantic music he most despises. Well, maybe so. But I've just sat through the first three concerts of his winter residency with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and he sounded like the same old Mr. Freeze to me."
