  1. how come Ruben is sometimes written Reuben and why do I always mess that up and write Rueben?
  2. yes There is a version with some extra material out there. The same tracks were added as a bonus to the Sonny Meets Hawk album, but make much more sense here I think. With the three tracks included it actually becomes a reissue of the On The Outside album.
  3. just call (cabbage is a vegetable)
  4. I'm so sure I beat you to it couw. as if I care
  5. and because I missed him so all these days... hah!
  6. machine music is cool. that's what I like about the Rueben vinyl: it's machine music without the machine. Dig THAT!
  7. at last, famous first words:
  8. hear that catesta? it doesn't.
  9. Oh MAN! That would have been wicked FUN! (I wish I had thought of that...) sheeee-it, I can see it coming man. Thanks a bunch. People fighting and pulling on each others hair an' all that....
  10. buy the album ? oh wait, THAT's definitely not gonna help either, maybe Marvin Pontiac can bring some relief. Nah!
  11. okay, I hear you, and I will trust you B)
  12. so, is it "too beautiful"? there have been so many different guesses on the title here that I am not at all sure about my own guess anymore.
  13. it does?
  14. Well this track is knocking me out!!! Thjanks for including this. It's very reminiscent of some of that big-band trash Bjork was doing a while back (she obviosly listened hard to this), maybe if she was only fronting some gig with Michael Moore (not the fat one), so I'm narrowing my sites to seas much colder that the Rhine. RDK, would we even have a clue as to who this might be??? Is this some weird Capitol session that we will all be surprised about?? The charts are a bit 'straighter' than the usual tulip dibbling variety and I'm feeling it's the pianist's date or a whole collaborative? Flat Earth Society mayhap?
  15. Here's a GIFT, not exactly a 12" or a crate of them, but it should enable you to print out your own crate full.
  16. Spinning that Folk Inspired disk now and this one has some very nice violins and geeetars and all that. Viklicky has a very light touch and some of Bill Evans to his playing (said the guy who doesn't know much about piano players anyhow).
  17. Tell us what it's like once you get it! (Assuming you already ordered it ) I was merely giving you the tip where to order. Where are our Hungarian board members?
  18. cheaper 3.020 Ft = 12,61 EUR
  19. yes, found an LP (Czech Supraphon) titled "The Folk Inspired Jazz Piano." Very nice (good candidate for a thread) need to spin it again.
  20. Nothing by Ganelin in my collection, but I do have the occasional nice vinyl find pressed in on of the former Warsaw Pact States. Some names that deserve attention have been mentioned before on this board. The singer Eva Olmerova needs to be heard and the Blechband album by pianist Hannes Zerbe and his band of wackos is another stunner. The Polish Muza (Polskie Nagrania) label not only featured some of Polish best jazz players, but also gave the world an obscure catalogue of performances by famous artists with local pick up bands. Some of these have been released on CD now I believe. I found a nice stack of 10" LPs with the more obscure artists like Kalwinski and Elisabeth Charles. These disks were fairly widely distributed as there were hardly any LPs pressed in Eastern Europe during the 50s/early 60s.
  21. Many others. I will dig out some more and try to make this a running series. These people deserve the attention.
  22. I think this means that there is a solo CD out there somewhere... Now THAT is something to get excited about!
  23. ...and we have a Yancy Korosi listed on Tom Lord's site....
