  1. buy the album ? oh wait, THAT's definitely not gonna help either, maybe Marvin Pontiac can bring some relief. Nah!
  2. okay, I hear you, and I will trust you B)
  3. so, is it "too beautiful"? there have been so many different guesses on the title here that I am not at all sure about my own guess anymore.
  4. it does?
  5. Well this track is knocking me out!!! Thjanks for including this. It's very reminiscent of some of that big-band trash Bjork was doing a while back (she obviosly listened hard to this), maybe if she was only fronting some gig with Michael Moore (not the fat one), so I'm narrowing my sites to seas much colder that the Rhine. RDK, would we even have a clue as to who this might be??? Is this some weird Capitol session that we will all be surprised about?? The charts are a bit 'straighter' than the usual tulip dibbling variety and I'm feeling it's the pianist's date or a whole collaborative? Flat Earth Society mayhap?
  6. Here's a GIFT, not exactly a 12" or a crate of them, but it should enable you to print out your own crate full.
  7. Spinning that Folk Inspired disk now and this one has some very nice violins and geeetars and all that. Viklicky has a very light touch and some of Bill Evans to his playing (said the guy who doesn't know much about piano players anyhow).
  8. Tell us what it's like once you get it! (Assuming you already ordered it ) I was merely giving you the tip where to order. Where are our Hungarian board members?
  9. cheaper 3.020 Ft = 12,61 EUR
  10. yes, found an LP (Czech Supraphon) titled "The Folk Inspired Jazz Piano." Very nice (good candidate for a thread) need to spin it again.
  11. Nothing by Ganelin in my collection, but I do have the occasional nice vinyl find pressed in on of the former Warsaw Pact States. Some names that deserve attention have been mentioned before on this board. The singer Eva Olmerova needs to be heard and the Blechband album by pianist Hannes Zerbe and his band of wackos is another stunner. The Polish Muza (Polskie Nagrania) label not only featured some of Polish best jazz players, but also gave the world an obscure catalogue of performances by famous artists with local pick up bands. Some of these have been released on CD now I believe. I found a nice stack of 10" LPs with the more obscure artists like Kalwinski and Elisabeth Charles. These disks were fairly widely distributed as there were hardly any LPs pressed in Eastern Europe during the 50s/early 60s.
  12. Many others. I will dig out some more and try to make this a running series. These people deserve the attention.
  13. I think this means that there is a solo CD out there somewhere... Now THAT is something to get excited about!
  14. ...and we have a Yancy Korosi listed on Tom Lord's site....
  15. Zoot Sims w/ our friend
  16. your posting that cover from the ebay auction pointed me towards YET ANOTHER way to spell the good man's name. Poor guy, with a name like that, who can be blamed for not finding out about his recordings.

    Funny Rat

that's some line up! damn you Ubu, you cost too much money
  18. 100 years huh? We need to do something! ... oh wait... Will spin some Waller later, now it's Bud Powell tickling the ivories in my player.
  19. check out this discography
  20. saw this one and pulled some levers, may have to look after them. Konitz with Körössy, now THAT looks promising
  21. EDIT: while I was making coffee, EKE posted. I'll leave it as is. The high horse refers to Brad's post above... talking of high horses... woa! It's not as if by saying "thanks" you're signing away your soul to the devil. Drop the note in advance when signing up, if clicking the button twice is too heavy a strain on your fingers or takes up too much time, just say "thank you" and all's well. And BTW: this *IS* an exclusive club, it's just that membership is open to everyone so the exclusivity part doesn't really mean that much. It's like a sportsclub really, if you sign up you are expected to play. No one can be forced to play, but if you don't play, you explain why. It's a cool club, though and you don't even have to explain, you just say "thanks." You see, I'm not that much of a horse man, but do like an occasional soap box. Now I'm gonna have a cuppacoffee and relax. Please join me. -_-
  22. found a copy of A.T.'s delight recently. There is some smoking stuff on there. Essential is a heavy term, but this one is essential in A.T.'s discography I'd say
