  1. I fear they are not much unlike these...
  2. I'm not referring to the name of the state, which indeed seems to be of indian origin, but the anglification of the word and tongue-breakingly forcing it into english grammar. The Germans ARE to blame for that, I know. I'm not.
  3. SO IS SUPERTRAMP MUZAK THEN OR IS IT JUST SOME KIND OF REALLY EXCASSIBLE KIND OF POP ROCK MUSIC?
  4. with words like that, to be numerically challenged seems the lesser problem to me... but I fear THAT is not restricted to Ohio...
  5. socks and bulbous
  6. your first thought wasn't that the dress made him look fat?
  7. fegh man, that thing makes you look fat!! (never thought I'd say that... )
  8. Vint! You! In a DRESS!?!! I don't know what I'd say, but I doubt it would be that it makes you look fat.

    Guy Lafitte

    wasn't that Gerard Badini?
  10. Ahhh, they have Kirk too! Thanks for this link. (don't forget to check the coltrane pic)
  11. I just received permission to use the pictures of the collection of the dutch national archives for the website. You can view them here if you type basie in the search space. Nothing very spiffy, but nice nonetheless.

    Guy Lafitte

Yes, the Lucky T material is from 1956, the material on the Lafitte JiParis disk is from 1954. Sweet and lovely tone on both accounts. The Diéval JiParis disk also features Lafitte and was recorded in 1956. Don't get me wrong on my assessmet of Lafitte's tone on the disk w/ Boussaguet. It is not raspy by objective standards, I was judging from the Lafitte I know. In general Lafitte plays with a sweet tone and a very gentle bounce with an easy-does-it drive.

  14. this is too cute... have jenny post her impressions here please.
  15. you mean you already got her introduced to the splendid world of Rah' Roland Kirk! Kudos!
  16. hah! cool beans! happens to me everytime I listen to it. drop me a PM when that copy with zero pause thing doesn't work
  17. show her rachel! I mean she's cute, but she could be much more than just that take care of her will you.
  18. are the pauses indicated by minus signs on your CD player display? if so, you can get rid of them by copying the disk track by track (not at once) and selecting a zero pause between the tracks.
  19. seriously, not to make my previous post sound too silly, we know Hill has been rather critical of his releases. Has he heard the tapes again and has he given the green light already or is this still more in the planning phase? I can imagine that some stuff we die to hear will not be included simply because Hill doesn't want it to be heard. That's what I meant with "trainwrecks." To indicate a reluctance from the artist/producer side to put certain stuff out there.
  20. Chuck, can you estimate what the impact on the AEC may have been with respect to Ra's recordings rather than personal contact? Were they fans of his stuff or just interested public, or not interested at all, or...
  21. here we are then! with love from maren & couw!
  22. it doesn't seem to enjoy wide distribution. I looked it up with the usual german suspects and came up empty... any samples mayhap?
  23. erm... yes pretty woman, but she has -- typically german -- too many teeth as well and tries to cover those with her too tiny lips. don't work, looks silly, better show what you got, all that. She can play though and that's important isn't it? agree with deus that her later stuff got too polished. Don't have any of it myself, but used to listen to her albums at a friend's place.
  24. no stress here, too filled up for that (jesskidding!) I'm taking it slow here, there's a lot that needs taking care of, but *I* need taking care of too, and stressing out is not the way to go. Then, I can say piss off to my boss, which most of you probably cannot (well catesta can, but what does it bring him?)
