  3. they may be good at organising events, but do they have THIS ?? I don't think so...
  4. I recently found a copy of the JAS 2LP. It reissues two vault albums High in the Sky and Plays Movie Musicals. The first one features Leroy Vinnegar and Donald Bailey and is a very solid & enjoyable date. The second one has strings added arranged by Billy Byers. After some breaking in, I found this one really nice as well. Browsing a bit on the web, I learned that the music on it is generally considered to be latter (or transitional) period outing. I'd be interested to learn more as well. Like catesta, I have quite a number of albums feat. Hawes as a sideman. The only stuff I had of him as a leader is the Sonny Criss/Hampton Hawes Jazz Factory disk, which features some very cool R&B oriented music. Hard to sit still when playing that one.
  5. Probably one of the most idiosyncratic players on this one is the versio by Helge Schneider (real audio clip). The guy is a very talented multi instrumentalist who combines jazz, R&B, classic, and whatever else comes across and uses it all in a fabulous combination with stand up comedy to produce something totally unpredictible but VERY enjoyable. The guy definitely has his own kind of logic. He did some jazz albums that I still intend to pick up. this one a.o. features a marvellous version of Misterioso on accordion (one of those huge two octave things). (Click the numbers 1 to 13 that follow the real adio icon to hear some samples, you get a pop up that should automatically start playing, if it doesn't click the link (german text)) here's the other jazz album, which feat. Take Five BTW.
  6. there's a copy up at amazon.de zShops for 9EUR (w/ add. p&p only a good deal for Europeans) there's a similar album focussing on Light My Fire. this site promises samples, but their server seems to be down.
  7. all you need is a random number generator (RNG) with a uniform distribution. Now, don't ask me how those things work! That's a science per sé. You hardwire a RNG or programme a chip and you're set to go. Usually these RNGs need a seed value to start calculating. If they use some data from the CD itself (as some RNGs do), you will end up with the same sequence everytime you play a particular CD.
  8. disks arrived. great rejoicing! will abide by the rules and sit tight.
  9. Street Art for your 43rd Birthday with love from maren & couw (we almost got busted spraying the wall)

  19. second time I post this in this thread. Some people are TOO LAZY to check, so here it is again:
  20. no need for nose hair Jim...
  21. The PDF files on this page contain more info on the albums and actual order forms. Never heard her. I have been trying to find some samples online but thus far without any luck. Edit: US distribution seems to be handled by Cadence.
  22. With many of the newer models, the stress has been on the number of pixels. More pixels doesn't necessarily mean better pics, though. The signal needs to be processed and many of the cheap, 5+ Mpix models produce very "nervous," shimmery pictures that are overly detailed and do not leave you with a realistic impression. Many of the older, 3.2 Mpix models actually produce better photos. Thus your choice to stick in the 3.2 Mpix range is very sensible. You will want a bigger memory stick than the 8 or 16MB that usually comes with the camera. These have become much cheaper during the last year though, and a 128 MB stick can now be had for something like 50 dollars. Such a stick stores up to 150 high quality pictures.
  23. with love from maren & couw
