  1. AFAIK there's nothing extra besides a big cardboard box with the Eiffel tower on it. You should note that there have been 25 additional titles issued. I would have picked it up had I known earlier that I would be spending so much on this series. The box was offered at a special price way back when this whole thing started. I didn't have the dough and I thought I could do with a dozen or so titles. Yeah, sure... make that more than even just a couple of dozen as we speak...
  2. I only have Fab Navarro Vol. 1 in its TOCJ BNW incarnation. Here's the tracklisting: The Fabulous Fats Navarro Vol. 1: 1947.09.26. Fats Navarro, tp; Ernie Henry, as; Charlie Rouse, ts; Tadd Dameron, p; Nelson Boyd, b; Shadow Wilson, ds; 1 Our delight T. Dameron 2 Our delight T. Dameron 3 The squirrel T. Dameron 4 The squirrel T. Dameron 5 The chase T. Dameron 6 The chase T. Dameron 1949.08.08. Fats Navarro, tp; Sonny Rollins, ts; Bud Powell, p; Tommy Potter, b; Roy Haynes, ds; 7 Wail B. Powell 8 Bouncing with Bud B. Powell 9 Double talk H. McGhee-F. Navarro 1947.09.26. Fats Navarro, tp; Ernie Henry, as; Charlie Rouse, ts; Tadd Dameron, p; Nelson Boyd, b; Shadow Wilson, ds; 10 Dameronia T. Dameron 11 Dameronia T. Dameron This should correspond to following tracks from the 2CD set: Disk Track 1 5 1 6 1 3 1 4 1 1 1 2 2 10 2 8 2 5 1 7 1 8 The tracklisting at AMG seems to be correct for the Fats disks. As you see it doesn't do much for pulling alternate takes apart. (If that was your objective.) Of course the 12" LPs were already reissues of previously issued 10" LPs. (And they are listed accordingly as compilations at AMG.) I wouldn't know the tracklistings of those original original issues.
  3. just a thought that occurred to me... As long as it is taking "a few weeks" more to get this thing rollins fer real, it looks like this test is gonna put us into the next year (yup, time IS going THAT fast). From that point of view 2 disks is definitely not a bad thing. Getting a new test on its way seems hardly doable during the busy december month (busy at least for many of us, or so I hope). Hopefully I myself can spend some time then not only listening to Jim's spiffy new & improved double feature test, but also revisiting and re-evaluating the three existing BF disks.
  4. Yes Jeff, you're still the KING!! Dave, take a look at the animated avatar thread. Africa Brass is taking orders over there...
  5. and one more again! happy birthday!
  6. Yeah, me too (i think ... )
  7. I updated the large Blues Walk version. It has more detail now. Lou Donaldson - Blues Walk (540 Kb) I slowed down some of the other files. Please refer to the initial post. Mike, there's a slower version of the Flip as well, the girl takes a lot longer between the flips: The Flip Scott, same goes for Unit Structures: Unit Structures
  8. check out the big one here: Lou Donaldson - Good Gracious! Dan should be happy. I took Poppa Lou's face out of the Here 'Tis! cover and paster it on Good Gracious Lou. I like how the subtle nod of the head as he approaches the dame came out.
  9. may I divert your attention to this thread? I would appreciate any insight into this. I listened on headphones (not the best in the world, but any headphones are more revealing of such click things as you shut out surrounding noise) and didn't hear a thing. My offer to send the copy I made to anyone interested still stands.
  10. Will do this weekend. (that's weird about that cover...)
  11. Jim, did you get my PM?
  12. Same here. I make them on original size of the cover scans (500 px sq) first though and downsize them only afterwards. Most of the detail is of course lost through that, but it does somehow still show. I for instance created an entire "empty & lighted" wall for the Judgment cover, re-created Hubbard trumpet (a prize to the person who finds out where I borrowed it, and put a lot of work into Lou's grassy knol & woods. I am uploading a more detailed version of the latter now, just to show off
  13. HEY! Do you know how much trouble I went through making these things <20K ??? At least I know how al this file optimising features work now. :rsly:
  14. SPONGEBOB! I knew HE would pop up sooner or later! I am currently re-organising my web space. Will be back soon with another one. And Good Gracious! it's a good one (if I may say so...)
  15. Do you mean you have it with the text horizontal? I have only ever seen it with the text vertical. Not that it matters much, 'cause what's inside is what counts!
  16. I am unearthing this ancient thread because I recently got the Sonny Rollins Vol. 1 in its latest RVG incarnation. I have been spinning this one on auto-repeat this whole morning and must say I am awed. There isn't much I could say that hasn't been said already about Rollins's playing and probably also about this album. But damn I LOVE it! These guys really gel, there isn't much to criticise and a way too much to praise on this album. Highlights for me are the exchanges between Rollins and Roach and the ballad "Glocca Morra." I actually thought they were playing "(I'm in love with a) Strong Man" until I read on the back it's Glocca Morra. What gives? Same song? Very similar? My bad memory? One thing I noticed considering the packaging: it looks spiffy and cool and has a nice gloss, but .... isn't this supposed to be like this ? Is this yet another fluke of the Krypton Prroof Readers and Korrektion department? (come to speak of that: I also noted that a recording date is given for song #7 on indestrubtible )
  17. The costs would be all mine. All assistants would be reimbursed. The reason I ask, is that I havw a LOT of good BT test material that runs in the 9-12 minute range, and could do a really good job with a 90 minute or so test. But if the desire is to keep it to a single disc, I can certainly stay within that parameter. I got stuff that works that way too. I remembered this one: I'd agree with your other self and say it's up to you!
  18. after all the great reactions here, of course I couldn't resist and had to make some more... Claude wanted me to throw the stone through Hubbard's Breaking Point glass pane. Of course it wasn't a stone... to have a better (larger look): Freddie Hubbard - Breaking Point (405 Kb) and Rooster Tom wanted Andrew Hill animated and got a wink from Jeff. Now that one had me crippled laughing. I had a more moody idea for the Judgment! cover. Sort of like Hill in Gotham City... That one was a damn effort to make, so please take a look at it in it's full glory: Andrew Hill - Judgment (410 Kb) the Lou Takes Off I made wasn't that good. So I sat down and re-did it: Lou Donaldson - Lou Takes Off (520 Kb) Sticking with Lou, here he is walking his Blues Walk: Now that one wasn't easy either, with the damn trees in the background... Lou Donaldson - Blues Walk
  19. Look like the Hankster has to go pee. exactly what I was thinking Hank looks more like than like
  20. Jeff, those "crossovers" are hilarious! Only thing missing is a whistle tone from James T Kat
  21. the weirdest thing about that is that your friend must apparantly at one point in time have thought... hmmm, what will it be for Halloween this year? Something to really scare all them kids off.... I know, let's go as a redneck, I'll have my hair .... blahblah.... SCARY friends you have !
  22. Will Parkertown trade his trusty avatar for its new-'n'-improved incarnation? Will become ? Stay tuned and find out soon!
  23. The 2000 issues were also listed as unavailable. Those available at amazon.de have been issued in april this year. I'll try and find some samples of these or otherwise order them just for the heck of it.
  24. definitely! there's a nice version in this vein on the lost episodes CD as I recall
  25. I have larger versions, I made these avatar sized to have yet another restraint considering picture and file size. The originals are from that Japanese BN vinyl cover site and are appr. 500 pixels square and several Kbytes. I'd be happy to share them, but I don't have them with me now. I'll bring them along. ...and so I did. I uploaded larger versions of most of these on my lycos webspace. Please note that these are quite a lot larger! Some are really optimated for small size and look a bit quirky this big. JacMac - Action! (200 Kb) JacMac - Destination Out (140 Kb) Dexter Gordon - Gettin' Around (270 Kb) Freddie Hubbard - Hubcap (240 Kb) Larry Young - Into Something (170 Kb) Milt Jackson (100 Kb) Horace Parlan - Speakin' my Piece (160 Kb) Sonny Rollins - Volume 1 (290 Kb) Hank Mobley - The Flip (580 KB [!!!])
