  1. 15 minutes and couting, I'll prepare the champagne!
  2. If you don't piss anybody off while you're alive, you're doing something wrong. That is a live not being properly lived! Doesn't necessarily follow that if you do, then you are, but still... sorry Jim, but the Denny thread contained some unidirectional pissing that was pissed without any background of Denny pissing off to deserve such a pissing. The pisser in question really should consider wearing diapers lest it all runs out of hand (and pants).
  3. there was no pissing off while alive involved. just pissing. uncalled for pissing. save it for later or empty your bladder in a milk bottle. "yeah Jim, never knew him really, but he was a talentless hack that beat his progeny all day long and nicked the neighbour's newspaper every morning." cool thing for the loving progeny and fans to read. really important too.
  4. I hear it's something in the brewing luminous. Don't get any on ya. I will be having a memorial barbecue here. if you bring some brews, you are invited. I'll drink to that! I'll bring the tiki torches! I'll throw on some island music from Poland They have islands in Poland??? is the Vatican an island? think so... does the pope dance to this music?

  8. Someone said Denny was a hack and Esquival was better. which, when put in that hit and run fashion as it was, amounts to pissing on the grave while it is still open. Some respect and nuance would have been in place. Luckily we didn't get to be informed on how the man used to beat his grandma and molest his children, nor that he actually was a Nazi and worse than you know who. pfff...
  9. so nobody noticed what went down in that thread? amazing. must be a serious selective blindness disorder or some such flying lurgy.

    Rita Reys

learn Dutch and read some on the site Lon posted she was married to Pim Jacobs (d. 1996), who played piano with his brother Ruud on bass. Their work, especially that with Rita, has been re-evaluated in recent years and lifted out of the dimly lit regions into those of grand cultural achievement. Both assessments are a bit exaggerated. This is nice stuff for those with an open ear for non-US jazz. Pim was a dandy player, just like his brother. Rita is a nice singer who did some grand things.

    LP to CD

see the link to the Goldwave programme I posted above. Some practise at this is needed, don't expect wonders! Your judgement is as important as the programme. No miracles here, but some added enjoyment by getting rid of the worst blemishes. Using EAC or CDex, you can rip the CDrs you made using your stand-alone recorder to create .wav files on your 'puter and then give them the treatment.
  21. Judging from these comments, you will do well here, welcome to the club, and never be afraid to ask the same dumb question we all have, but most do not have the courage to ask ... like: who is that Cal Tjader dude I see in your avatar.

there are several software applications that allow you to edit the wave file. You can remove some of the clicks&pops&co. and set track marks, etc. Using a soundcard line-in, you can use the harddisk of your computer as a recording device.
  23. roaring bikes, eh? that was a nice story, deus!
