  1. I'm waiting for the complete "Quark", the Outer Space Garbage Collector (or whatever it was called).
  2. Steven Wilson has a new Bass Communion release due out in January, I believe, called "Pacific Codex". It's already come out on vinyl, but this will be the cd/dvd-a release. The guy who does alot of PT/SW artwork, Carl Glover, described the music: That's intriguing!
  3. Well, not only did he not go sideways, he actually apologized to Romo. I don't think he was joking, though. But he *did* apologize to Romo, which suggests a far better relationship than T.O. had with Garcia & McNabb. Maybe he's grown up in the last year or two, just a little (emphasis on little).
  4. I don't know if he's all that, but he *IS* a 2 time Pro Bowler, with less than two full seasons worth of starts. That's gotta count for something! I think he's worth being a fan of. Especially after years of: Randall Cunningham (2000) Quincy Carter (2001-2003) Clint Stoerner (2001) Ryan Leaf (2001) Chad Hutchinson (2002-2003) Vinny Testaverde (2004) Drew Henson (2004) Drew Bledsoe (2005-06)
  5. He's a gunslinger, like Favre, so he's bound to have an erratic game here and there. I hope that's all that this was. I hope the team isn't having it's usual December meltdown. I think if Romo bounces back from his very sub-par performance, the team will be fine. If he's getting that distracted by all the trappings of celebrity, then I'd worry. So far, he seems to have handled it well, for the most part.
  6. T.O. to Simpson: Back off Cowboys WR says pop star affecting Romo's focus IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Terrell Owens has a message for Jessica Simpson: Stay away. Simpson has become Public Enemy No. 1 among Dallas Cowboys fans because of a link being made between her appearance at Sunday's game and the poor performance of her new boyfriend, quarterback Tony Romo. "Right now, Jessica Simpson is not a fan favorite -- in this locker room or in Texas Stadium," Owens said Wednesday. The Cowboys lost 10-6 to the Philadelphia Eagles and Romo had what was statistically the worst game of his career, all while Simpson sat in a luxury box wearing a pink No. 9 jersey she proudly showed off for television cameras. The problem for her is, Romo's previous worst game came last December at home to the Eagles when then-girlfriend Carrie Underwood was in attendance. "With everything that has happened, obviously with the way Tony played and the comparison between her and Carrie Underwood, I think a lot of people feel she has taken his focus away," Owens said, echoing the chatter on sports-talk radio and blogs. "Other than that, she was high on my list until last week. "Oh, I got a message for her when we make the playoffs. Just stay tuned." Jessica Simpson rooted for Tony Romo at Texas Stadium during the Cowboys' loss to the Eagles last Sunday.
  7. Same bargain source? I thought I was doing well with my CD version of this for £18. I want to know where you guys are shopping!
  8. Especially when their 1st round draft pick [from the Niners] is going to the Jets. Is there a trade that I didn't hear about? Nope. It was all part of the NFL sanctions/fines levied against the Pats for filming the first Jets game, remember? The pick didn't go to the Jets. It was simply taken away from the Patriots.
  9. Nice story, in the spirit of the holiday season. Navy Saves Gravely Ill Girl on Cruise SAN DIEGO (AP) — A teenager whose appendix ruptured at sea, hundreds of miles from help, got safely to shore Tuesday after an unusual rescue in which the Navy airlifted her from a cruise ship for emergency surgery. Laura Montero, 14, fell ill aboard the Dawn Princess cruise ship off the coast of Baja California. The Bahamian-registered ship sent out a distress call Friday that was answered by the USS Ronald Reagan, which was on training maneuvers about 500 miles away. Montero, a fair-haired girl with bright blue eyes, appeared to be doing well as she gave a brief interview with reporters at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. "I'd like to thank the captain of the Dawn Princess, the surgeon and the crew and everyone on the USS Ronald Reagan," she said quietly, then flashed a shy grin. She said she was usually "a tiny bit" scared of heights but hadn't been nervous when she was hoisted on a flat stretcher into the helicopter that came to fetch her. "I was in pain," she said. The Reagan, a nuclear carrier, was the closest ship with a hospital facility, according to a news release from the Navy. It steamed overnight toward the cruise ship, which was about 250 miles northwest of Cabo San Lucas when the call went out. A helicopter took off from the Reagan around 5 a.m. Saturday to close the final 175-mile gap between the ships. The crew arrived after a 45-minute flight and lowered a medic onto the cruise ship deck in a basket because there wasn't space to land, said Lt. Cmdr. Gregory Leland, the pilot. Montero, who was on an antibiotic drip, was loaded into a litter basket, lifted into the helicopter and flown back to the Reagan for an appendectomy. Her mother stayed aboard the cruise ship. "We practice this all the time, but this is the first time I've pulled a civilian off a cruise ship," Leland said. A spokeswoman for Princess Cruises, which operates the Dawn Princess, said the ship's captain called the Coast Guard for help because he felt that would be faster than diverting to the nearest Mexican port. "Where the ship was, where the land was and the fact that the Ronald Reagan had (a surgical facility) on board were all factors that came into play," said Julie Benson. "The option is to go to the nearest medical facility that can treat the patient." The Dawn Princess returned to its home port of San Diego over the weekend from its regular weeklong run along the Baja California coast to the resorts of Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The Reagan, which carries as many as 6,000 crew members and costs about $2.5 million a day to operate while under way, returned Tuesday morning, its scheduled return from the training tour. Montero, of Albion, Ill., is expected to make a full recovery. A doctor at the children's hospital said he anticipated she would be back home by Christmas.
  10. Admit it, Free...you had a "rat tail" and parachute pants in the 80's! ....like I did.
  11. What's up with that tie that kid's wearing in that picture by the way? Were those actually in style at one point??
  12. I wouldn't have realized what this thread was about from the title - the rebuke got me curious though! My 9 yr old daughter watches the show that Jamie Lynn Spears is on ("Zoey 101"), so I'm sure we'll have a discussion about this at some point. Thanks, Jamie.
  13. That kinda surprises me, since it's not just a popularity contest. If it was only fan voting that determined the Pro Bowl rosters, I could see that happening. But since players & coaches also have an equal say, you'd think there would be more respect given to Jacksonville, for instance.
  14. Cowboys put 11 players into the Pro Bowl, surprisingly (to me, anyway). I think T.O., Romo, Witten, and Demarcus Ware were shoe-ins. ** Terrell Owens, WR ** Flozell Adams, T ** Jason Witten, TE ** DeMarcus Ware, LB ** Andre Gurode, C ** Leonard Davis, G ** Nick Folk, K Tony Romo, QB Marion Barber, RB Ken Hamlin, S Terence Newman, CB ** = Pro Bowl starter I believe Roy Williams is the first alternate to go, in place of Sean Taylor, so I don't know if that makes 12 or not. Either way, that's alot of players. Harkens back to the Aikman/Irvin/Smith prime era.
  15. He was arguably the best defensive player coming out of college football the year the Cowboys got him. They were expecting alot of plays like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1MpHG5x6q0, but all they've really gotten is a player who's known for horse-collaring and an occasional hard hit, but that's it. He's a liability as a safety. Maybe they should convert him into a LB.
  16. Bobo Stenson has confessed to HGH use.
  17. Well, the NFL is apparently a LITTLE more compassionate than you, Al. They did suspend him, but just for one game.
  18. Paul Byrd has confessed to using HGH.
  19. Gary Bennett has confessed to using HGH.
  20. Fernando Vina has also come out and confessed to using HGH. I think the smart ones are going to admit their mistakes, and will be more readily forgiven by the public. It's the egotistical Bonds and Clemens and others who will continue to deny their transgressions who will suffer in the court of public opinion.
  21. Also: Miles Davis - Ascenseur pour l'echafaud George Benson - Shape of Things to Come Tord Gustavsen - Being There Ella Fitzgerald - Ella in Hamburg Billie Holiday - Lady Sings the Blues Diana Krall - Very Best of Gato Barbieri - Ruby, Ruby Gram Parsons - Complete Reprise Sessions (3CD) Bjork - Volta David Crosby - If I Could Only Remember My Name (CD/DVD)
  22. If you had told me the Cowboys would hold the Eagles to 10 points today, I'd have never guessed they would lose. The defense looked halfway decent, and hopefully they are starting to gel into playoff form. But Romo had easily his worst start of the year, perhaps of his career. Three INTs, and misfiring left and right for the most part. A number of injuries also tonight - Gurode, Canty, Fasano, and Watkins, not to mention Romo apparently hurt his thumb at some point in the game. They slipped to 12-2, and are now tied with GB for best record in the NFC. If they win out, they still have the homefield advantage for the playoffs, based on their head-to-head win.
  23. I think every region gets a total of three afternoon games on Sundays. Either 1 early and 2 late, or 2 early and 1 late, on CBS & Fox. You may not be getting the early CBS game in Atlanta because you have the early Fox game, and then will have 1 Fox + 1 CBS game later.
